Android vs iOS vs Blackberry

Since people were debating this in the wrong thread I thought I'd make this instead of going off-topic in the other thread.

And here...we...GO!

Android > iOS > Blackberries

/thread.

DanHibiki 07-06-2011 07:48 PM

playing with my friend's android, I was really jealous of the pull-down notification center.

So glad we iPhone is finally getting their own.

I also like the widgets and swype but other than that, I'm not sure what else they have that I would care for?

Animated background is okay but not useful and battery draining.

Should have been the title of this thread.

I'm bias, blackberry!

LiquidTurbo 07-06-2011 08:22 PM

Pointless thread!

SkinnyPupp 07-06-2011 08:27 PM

Whatever you prefer is the best (for you).

Except Blackberry. That shit's just obsolete. :troll:

That's because all you did was "play around" with it. If you actually USED it for a while, and do more than just "play" with it, you'll realize that Android is much more powerful and useful than iphone.

Whether that matters to you, is your choice though. There's nothing wrong with wanting a 'toy' phone like the iphone, or something more useful that does everything the iphone does, and more. Neither one is "better" than the other, it's all up to personal preference.

LiquidTurbo 07-06-2011 08:40 PM

For me, i really dislike the iPhone doesn't have Swype.

Yes, you can click on the image during review, and send it to any share enabled app. So email, facebook, twitter, whatsapp, catch, dropbox, etc, etc.

Is Android gonna come out with their own messaging system now that iOS has iMessage?

insomniac 07-06-2011 09:01 PM

the only thing i dont like about android phones is the battery life otherwise id still be rocking my desire z right now lol

for iOS , i really wished that there are widgets. im actually really satisfied with the iphone 4 right now the way it is. pretty excited for iOS 5

for blackberry's.. the only thing i like about it is that it has a nice keyboard and a dedicated/customizable camera button which is really convienient as i take lots of pics with my phone.

^ this.

I've used almost all platforms extensively (with the exception of bb cuz its so shit) and android is definitely the most powerful one. iOS will appeal to mass market because of its reliability, speed, and app market, and that's why i always come back to it in the end. But the android os is starting to become very refined and with faster processors coming out, imo android is (and will be) the king of OS's out there.

I could go on and on about why android is better, but the main point is its HUGE customization ( u can change pretty much everything and anything about it). if iOS is really your preference, u can even change the system to look like an iphone. The app market for android is growing at an exponential rate, and sooner or later it will match iOS's market.

The reason why i prefer android over iphone is that you can have the exact same phone as someone, yet have an entirely different phone as that person. Just because its so customizable. If you have an iphone, you're just like everyone out there lol.

Kamui712 07-06-2011 09:16 PM

Honestly, soon it won't matter, its just a matter of time before each OS begins having similar features with different flavours. All three OS's have strengths that the other one's don't have.. yet. A example is the iOS 's notification bar (similar to android) and Android's video chat (similar to facetime).

Really it just comes down to preferences and what you use your phone for.

The shortcut to the camera on the lockscreen for iphone is awesome.

always hated taking so long to get to it.

Gh0stRider 07-06-2011 09:18 PM

On Android you can replace the lockscreen itself, and put a camera shortcut (and any other shortcut or widget you want) on it :)

Like others have said, you can replace ANYTHING you don't like, and make it work how YOU want. You can't even change the fucking KEYBOARD on iphone.. which is truly horrible because the iphone keyboard sucks ass (it's so bad it started its own meme of bad auto corrections :lol)

Lomac 07-06-2011 09:37 PM

Symbian > All

:troll: :lol

I've been using iOS since the 3G came out, but I honestly can't stand it. I do prefer Android over it as I enjoy being able to customize it to how I want. However, because I hate throwing perfectly usable electronic devices away, I have to wait until my iPhone dies completely before I upgrade to an Android device.

dangonay 07-06-2011 09:38 PM

I once thought about buying an Android phone, but I was worried I might develop a chip on my shoulder. :)

Business Insider did a poll on smartphone users earlier this year. One question that stuck out was what would cause you to switch platforms.

- 24% of iPhone users said they'd never switch to Android.
- 56% of Android users said they'd never switch to iPhone, specifically because they "hated Apple" (their words, not mine).

So who's more open minded about alternatives and who are the real fanboys?

In fact, BI was so surprised by the "hated Apple" comment that they're planning a more in-depth poll to understand specifically what Android users hate about the iPhone/Apple.

lol @ android fanboys. Most people don't know the true power of a jailbroken iphone.

yes you can... Since when could you not do this? And maybe the keyboard only sucks ass to you? *edit* gotta admit the autocorrection is horrible though.

The point most people have is that you have to JB your iPhone in order to have the same options that Android phones have out of the box. And I'm not aware of being able to change the keyboard without jailbreaking your phone...

Ah that's a good point. Seriously though I don't find it to be a problem. Jailbreaking apple devices has become so easy now that even my 8 year old cousin can do it easily. I guess some people don't like to have to do something extra/illegal(?).

i know the "true power" of a jailbroken iphone. most of those "true powers" can be found in android's market for free lmao. if you havent noticed, there are huge bugs after you install addons from jailbreaking. the phone lags like fuck and crashes a lot. apps load slower and sometimes dont even work at all when you have a lot of addons. as for the keyboard, how can you not admit that it sucks? i browse the internet on my iphone at least an hour a day and i still make mistakes. go to future shop or something and type on an android phone and you will feel the difference right away. keyboards like swype are even better
