Pain on the left elbow area
 
Last night for some reason, my left elbow area started to develop pain. It's not exactly at the elbow joint, just slightly above my arm.

It hurts if I flex my arms, if I leave my arm straight, then it's okay.

Anyone experience something like this before? I think maybe I just need some rest, because I work in the office 50hours/week and I rest my elbow on my task chair a lot, maybe that's causing this??

It might be from being too stiff and standing in one position too long.. Don't think it's tendonitis, and did you workout or do any sports recently?

I would suggest that it is probably likely due to having your arm in the same position for too long, on a continual basis. For an entire day, don't let it rest in any one position for any more than 15-20 minutes at a time, move it around and exercise it, and continue to do that for the entire day, and see if it feels any different the next day. If it is still in the same pain, then you might have a more serious problem which is probably better served to be examined in the doctors office.

I do data entry and have similar problems. Like a few others have said it's really about being a static position (keeping your arm at 90 degrees) for too long. It can progress to something worse, so take a lot of stretch breaks and relax some of the activity in your left arm. Seriously, it wasn't until I eased up on my keyboarding activities and took up yoga that I felt 100%.

I ended up going to a physio for an immediate (somewhat) relief from the pain. I think it was only after 3+ session of manual manipulation and needling that I felt comfortable with my arms again. In my experience, physio > doctor.

If you do end up going to a physio, take note of your workstation(s) so they can offer you suggestions/explanations.

the doctor will just tell him advil and ice most likely... i would go straight to physio if it doesn't subside in a few days. sounds like some kind of tendonitis as it isnt the joint intself but right around that area.

See how it is the next few days and try to manually massage it yourself/extend and flex your arm through the different range of motion...
