good cheap car to insure?
I currently drive an EP3 , and while it's a reliable and fun car to drive, when my insurance renews the quoted rates for my car are through the roof. the reason being is that I got in a huge crash that totaled my previous car, for which I was found responsible for. I had collision coverage and ICBC paid for my car, but I will be paying for it down the line. Combined this with the fact that is a Honda Civic, and me having only a shitty N, my rates will be pretty much unaffordable. My question is what is a car that you can insure for cheap (and the car itself is cheap)? I will definitely sell my EP3 if it will mean more affordable rates. Right now I am thinking of an old 240sx or a CRX. If I can avoid the sedans I would, but if there is no alternative, I'll probably even settle for a beater Volvo.
Try insuring the car without collision on the EP3?

I was surprised at how cheap the insurance for the miata is considering it's a sporty car and probably pretty easy to steal/vandalize too, it's $2000 @ 0% discount for comprehensive/collision. For me it's around $1800 a year for comprehensive/collision @ $300 deductible. (10% discount N driver)
get the crx! my '90 civic is $995 all year long w/o comprehensive. although, i have something like 35-40% off and with a class 5. these cars are worth $500-$1000 to ICBC so there's really no point in getting the extra coverage.
Any coupe will be expensive. Remember that the type of car you drive is only one factor and the payout is only material damage. You are essentially paying for "high risk" meaning higher potentials for bodily injuries which really is independent of your vehicle. Posted via RS Mobile
Any 89+ Honda will be a considerable amount due to the fact they're easy to steal. If you don't mind moving out from Honda. Try looking into older VWs. They're super cheap to insure. Posted via RS Mobile
^ true but my '87 mazda 323GT hb was equally easy to steal and was only $1400 w/ comprehensive and $2mil 3rd party liability somehow. i suppose there just weren't as many around to steal compare to civics. i was still class 7N at the time too (a few years ago now). also, i had locked my keys in one day and i managed to open my door with a long skinny knife. it was ridiculously easy...
icbc hates the 99-00 civics most though. #1 and #2 top stolen car for what now... the last decade? something like that

Just get a car that isn't worth enough to get more than the basic autoplan, then it doesn't matter what type of car it is because you aren't covering damage to it anyways.

Get a geo metro or suzuki swift.. Great cars will last a long time.. Also no one wants to steal them.. My first car was a 94 swift and it was a beast.. Plus i never locked the door and left my deck unbolted and it never got stolen.

I'm paying 155 a month on an AE92 Corolla GTS with comprehensive and 1 mil liability with a 5% discount. Even though I put collision on my last cars, the rate I have now would still have been lower if I had it.
76' VW Bus
I had one as a daily bomb a few years back and it was only 600 a year to insure.
But are you man enough for such German automotive supremacy.
