| Bicycle Repair
So I've got a few bicycles that needs repairing, (busted chain, brakes, tires). I've always taken it to Bike Doctor to fix anything but I'm just wondering if there are other places that service bicycles.

Support your LBS. (local bike shop). Whoever is closest, go to them. I use BikeZone in Surrey since it's a block away.

Take it to MEC. Local bike shops wait times are horrendous and they charge way more then MEC. Bought a used mountain bike before and needed a brake fluid flush, 2 local bike shop told me to come back in 2 weeks.........MEC took it in the same day and the price was lower too.

There is one on Main close to Vera's Burgers. That shop is special, you take your bike there, pay a small price to borrow their tools and those guys there will teach you on how to fix your own bike.!

I was charged a small fortune for brake service and waited a couple weeks, never again.
I do want to support local shops, yet price and convenience of MEC cannot be beat.

I used to take mine there when I lived nearby. Costs like $5 an hour or something silly and you use all their tools and get them to help you. They can get really busy though, but they are cool people.

you will have to pay a $5 lifetime membership fee if it's your first time there. I'm sure you will like it good selection of bike gear too. Quote:

Best service I had was at Different Bikes burnaby and Overtime on schoolhouse rd. Overtime maybe a bit busy these days, they have a good cult of loyal customers.

Great down to earth people that is not about making the money.
I think its $5-10 hour to borrow the tools and work on the bike yourself, an extra $5 for verbal assistance from an employee and another $5-10 to just get one of them to service the bike for you.
They have like 4-5 bike stands and have new and used parts.
A great place if you want to learn how to fix your own bike.
