^ what's with the white SLK's taillight blinking like crazy. Was that cause of the camera?
It's what happens when a light source is blinking at a different refresh rate than that of the cameras. The LED is like 60hz but the camera records at 1/50th shutter speed etc (they don't line up). Like what happens to you film an old CRT monitor and it looks all wavy on film.
Shooting at 1/50th speed on video cameras is the industry norm if you're shooting at 24frames a second. Thats why Top Gear can't edit it out because its either they change their frame rate (which theyre not going to do) or somehow change the controller for the LEDs (too tedious).
Got my second ebay cam for the other car, only had to wait 2 weeks as opposed to a month and a half for the last one...
Definitely better build quality and everything is a lot sleeker.
The menu interface is exactly the same as the crappier ones, it's interesting that the clock had already been set to what I'm guessing is the chinese time.
Now just need to look for a micro Sd, back in the pre-iphone days I must've bought at least 4 or 5 but I can't seem to find them
My only gripe is that it uses micro SD which is something I already knew and is very minor anyways. It is definitely worth the extra money over the $30 ones IMO. This is probably the same one autolismo sells, I worried that it would take a month to get here so I'm pleasantly surprised to get it this morning
my $35 ebay one just came in the mail. does it matter what type of SD card I use or should i get a higher quality one? i know nothing about the types of SD cards btw tia

this is how you set the time
1. Open Notepad.
2. Type ONLY this in the file.
2011.11.04 12:30:00
3. Save the file as "time.txt"
4. Move the file to the memory card.
(below is for reference only, not shown in actual file)
year.month.day hour:minute:seconds
put the time a few minutes ahead so you can go to the car and put the memory card in

Define Quality.. Brand or speed?.. If you want smoothness and the least stutter get a Class 10 card to be safe.

The $40 or so ebay ones have a pretty low res, so the data rate wouldn't be that high anyways I think. Class 10 would be overkill, but if you find a cheap one then heck why not.
