Here are some of the recordings from the Autolismo V2 HD Recorder. Remember to turn on 720p settings on youtube.

Also this is how it looks like:

only thing is nighttime it's still not great

CP.AR 08-03-2011 11:23 AM

quick question.... how exactly did you wire it to your battery?

But it's a lot better than some of the cheaper cameras I've seen out there. Some of the cameras I've seen have so much noise + dropped framerates, that it's useless.

For around $100....this night time recording seems okay.

You don't. If you look at the picture, it has a car charger and usb. So either plug it in to your car charger to charge it up or charge it through your computer USB port while you transfer the videos. A go pro works similar but I guess this one has better battery life?

I prefer a go pro(Though that's more expensive) ;) Oh and this feels like an advertisement for Autolismo.

Keiichi_san 08-03-2011 12:03 PM

Yeah, this post is starting to tread on dangerous ground, so I don't think I'll post anymore info until someone asks.

Obsideon 08-03-2011 12:19 PM

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how useful this feature could be for hot chicks in short skirts crossing the street :troll:

Since Autolismo isn't a sponsor, just get them for here:
Wholesale HD 720P car black box with night vision

$67

Edit: This one also looks good, takes 720P video, lots of good feedback:

$33

What if you wanted to pay big bucks for higher quality? What would be the next step aside from go pro? I think mounting it behind windshield makes for more reflections and shittier quality.

freakshow 08-03-2011 02:08 PM

RCubed's one in the ~$400 range looked pretty sweet

underscore 08-03-2011 10:17 PM

I'm definitely interested in these, I don't care about the mapping and stuff but the rolling memory and decent night mode are cool. If there's a GB for inexpensive enough ones I might run them front and rear, just or the hell of it.

If they can be wired to auto-turn on with your ignition, could you not also set it up to switch on if your alarm gets activated? Or to an impact/vibration sensor that's set to be more sensitive than the main one for the alarm, for hit-and-runs etc?

It's honestly tempting to go absolutely nuts and get a high-end alarm and mount cameras everywhere after all the near misses I've had this summer, and some jerkoff kid breaking into my car and stealing my MP3 player (worst part is I'm pretty sure I know who did it but I have no proof :-( )

that's good it's the exact same one. i'd prefer buying from DX b/c i've heard of, and bought from them before.

i'm unfamiliar with aliexpress.

IMASA 08-05-2011 09:38 AM

Not sure if it's exactly the same as the Autolismo one. The mount is different. The reviews say it can only record 2 mins, while in the BCM3 thread, it says the Autolismo V2 one can record 2,5,15min files.

CanadaGoose 08-05-2011 01:50 PM

Great thread!

matrixfwd 08-05-2011 04:39 PM

i got one of those Non-HD Flip sitting around how would you think that will perform as a dash camera.

When I drove the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina I had a similar type camera mounted via suction cup to my car and it worked just fine. The Flip has a higher frame rate so I'd expect it to work aces.
