The pictures are taken at 2 different weather situations.. if you look at the OTOSaver's picture the top of the cars had definite schlieren effects (which causes the pictures to blur). Also the cars are different, tinted vs non tinted, so your pictures have more glare.

Today is much more windy so you don't get effects like that, since the hot air get blown away.

You might be coming from a careful point of view, but it might come across of trying to hard sale your product.

^ I don't mind testing 2 units (DAS 3000HD with Vicovation or Blackvue) at the same time in one vehicle.
The front windshield is non-tinted for both vehicles for sure. So does the side tinted window affect that much?

I am very glad to mount one vico or blackvue camera in your car and did the test with DAS 3000 OTOSaver to record at the same time. Objectivly, every reliable dash cam has own good or bad. I did not saying the products which we carry is perfect, but honestly I am just sharing all the information about these cams to the members. That's it. No offense at all.
I quite like the DAS 3000 HD body design which is small and stealthy, it is even smaller than the Blackvue units.

I know it's not a fair comparison but I have a blackvue dr380 and a das 3000 otosaver. The otosaver is waaayyyy more clearer when I load it up in my laptop.

I left my dashcam on my windshield for 5 months and the suction cup hasn't failed yet. Annoying thing is the plastic smells like skunk.

I was surprised that my chinarr one didn't overheat even though I left it on for 8 hours on the roof of the riverrock park and ride on a sunny day.

Just bought a new one for 35$cad, 1080p.

So, this is what I did. Used needle to pull out the four rubber things that cover the screw holes. They are rubber and rod shaped. Pull them straight out using the needle.

I split open the body starting from the side with the power and video out jacks using a small, straight blade screwdriver. The other end is a little tricky as it holds the two halves together. Need to be careful. The first time I took my dashcam, I was so afraid I'd break it.

After you get the thing apart, look for the two tiny screws that are on the logic board. They hold the lens housing to the board. The sensor is on the logic board. I used this lens pen I bought at London drugs. It's got a retractible brush on one end and a rubbery/felt type thing on the other end. When you go looking for the lens pen, make sure you get the micro size type, as the others are too big. I highly recommend this pen type lens cleaner. It is dry type, so no liquids involved.

When you put the lens body back onto the circuit board, make sure the two screws are firmly in place. The first time I did it, they weren't on tight enough because I was afraid of breaking something. Make sure the lens body is on tight by trying to move it from one side to the other. If it moves, you need to tighten the screws.

Making sure not to pinch anything, carefully put the two halves of the body back together. Again, make sure the end piece with the button on it, lines up with the two halves. Take your time. I find it a bitch to get the stuff back together. Once you get the lens lined up with the hole, the end piece doesn't want to go on.

Anyway, it's worth it in the end. Like new........

Hope this helps.

I did exactly what MG1 did, but I just used a q-tip and some alcohol on the sensor/lenses.

Mind you, it's only ok to clean a camera sensor this way because it's a (relatively) cheap camera, that's (relatively) easily replaceable. I'd never clean my dslr like this.

But yeah, after it's been cleaned, image is loads sharper, just as it was new.

I think this video is to show a permanently damaged sensor due to the overheating problems some blackvues have.

As far as I know, these aren't "fixable" as just cleaning it is.

Could be, but my dashcam videos were pretty close to what's on this video, LOL. Now it's like new, new, new........ I can see nipples on a chick as clear as day, LOLOOLOL. OK, maybe not that sharp, but you get the idea. I like to exagerate a bit.

Also, read some of the comments posted in the video link.

My Blackvue DR400 always records .mp4 files that cannot be opened. If it records 30 clips maybe 5 clips can actually be watched. Also, while I am driving the cam always resets as if I just turned on my car. Is my micro SD card messed up? If so, what brand is a good one? I am currently using class 10 Sandisk 16gb

The card should be reformatted once a while. Also there are tons of fake Sandisk all over the place, make sure you get it from a reputable place like ncix and even then, make sure it is not a fake (store return).

I got my 32gb Sandisks from Costco. $29.95

I formatted them using Apple's Disk Utility.

I have had them for over a year and have never had to reformat them - ever. I view and backup my files daily. If nothing crucial is on them, I just get rid of the ,gps and .3gf files before backing up any interesting footage. I have three cards that I rotate. After I check and back up the files, I just trash the contents in the "record" folder. I then empty the trash and it's good to go.

The Micro SD cards are pretty sturdy. The adapter, not so much.

I also have the Blackvue hard wired and for some reason, since cleaning the sucker, it records a lot of video in parking mode. I guess I have to adjust the settings....... damn, have to use a PC for that, LOL.

Oh, as for battery running down, I've never encountered it. I disconnect the thing while parked in the garage, which is cool, 'cause I take the sd card out when going into the house.

Samsung 32GB class 10 or Sandisk 32GB class 10. Like MG1 said, costco sells 32gb sandisk c10. Like NCIX most like not selling sandisk microsd.

You can use the android app to adjust sensitivity as the settings are loaded on the card and not on the actual unit.

^yup, too lazy to adjust, as I have to dust off the PC laptop to do the adjusting. Android? No, not me. Apple fan boy here, LOL.

Anyway, since I'm in this thread, might as well say, my Blackvue doesn't heat up as much. I run AC through defroster on hot days. Keeps the damn thing cool. My truck's AC is so cold I have to be careful. Hee hee............
