I think having more than 1 channels is too complicated. SD cards are cheap, cameras are cheap.. just buy 2 instead of having 1 point of failure.
Remember these things sit in the car and being exposed most of the time to UV and high heat.. 1 year of reliability is considered normal.. 2 year a bonus.. 3+ years a near miracle.

Anyone know if the Finevu uses the same power cable as the Blackvue? I'm just lazy and don't wanna take apart my interior again to rewire. I tried quickly looking around for an answer, but didn't find anything.
My blackvue DR-500 is still going strong. Had it for the better part of a year if I remember correctly.
Only problem I had was the adhesive mount failed on my one hot day, and the camera was dangling when I got back in the car. I fixed that with some new 3M double sided adhesive and its been good since.
I would disagree with that.. Vico etc are moving to 5V / USB. Ambarella released their 5V SoC, that's why there are so many "lower cost" cameras going to 5V.. (Ambarella is also the supplier for GoPro cameras). The only hold outs are Sony.
The fact is most new cars have USB connectors. 5V makes the camera smaller and generate less heat on the chipset.. it is a no brainer. Yes it is harder to find the 5V bus in cars, since it is different for different makes it is not impossible. So for barebone dashcam I think 5V is just fine.
However if you want the kitchen sink, ie dual channel, touch screen, OBD diagnostics etc consider the new Lukas http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LUKAS-LK-9700-DUO-Full-HD-Dash-Cam-Car-Black-Box-GPS-LK-750-OBD-SD-64GB-/111378628113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19eeaefe11(OBD2 + dual channels + touch screen) of course you need 12V.

interested in the mobius camera. anymore reviews from users?
debating between this and a go pro. i know go pro can't be use for dash cam but i like how it has multiple mounting option for when i autocross. seems like mobius can be both a dash cam and a action cam.
how does one set the camera up with mobius? there is no lcd or iOS app i could use to make sure it is pointed right?
Ive been using it for a few months now, excellent camera IMO.
You can update the camera and configure it by plugging it through USB into your computer.
Don't get a gopro thats just asking for your windows to be smashed if you intend to leave it there. Its also a pain in the ass to start and stop recording. A dash cam is meant to be put in place and forgotten till you need to pull the footage.

My originally plan if i do get a go pro is too forget using it as a dash cam and just delicate it for shooting video mainly at autox days. Mobius got my attention because its a self proclaim action camera and it has the bonus option of being a good dash cam. I don't really care about having a dash cam, would be cool but getting a cam to record my track days are more important atm lol.
Is there any remote record on trigger for the mobius?, possibly bluetooth connection or gps?

i got a DR500 installed, i realise that when i have wifi on, the cam itself start heating by itself. i don't know is it because the wifi actually causing the heat, some of my friends have the 550, with wifi ON, the cam temperature seems normal. still hot, but not to a level cause overheating.
i heard some reviews that the overheating is cause by wifi on all the time and power magic pro are kept the cam running 24/7. i don't know is it true.
btw, i am located in HK, so weather could be one of the issues.

Wifi does transmit in the microwave band.. so it is rather normal for the device to heat up.

I guess the only way to find out is to borrow someone's for a day. I'm sure someone at one of the meets would be happy to let you try it. If not I have one you could borrow.
I use my phone for nav and it will sit directly below the mobius. Will this cause any problems?
I've used a Garmin directly below my mobius and there has been no issue. This camera was originally catered towards a bunch of R/C flying enthusiasts with their drones and planes. I imagine those would have GPS trackers at the least so if there was a problem it would've probably been fixed.

Just recently pulled my sd card to review footage, turns out the camera has been recording out of focus the entire time, looks like the whole resolution is just blurry, anyone else have issues with the focus?
Ive been using my Mobius camera for the past few months with the power magic pro so its been recording none stop 24/7 in this 30 degree weather just fine.

Here's some footage from The Original Dash Cam 4SK106. It's smaller and compact compared to the flippy screen one. $100 when it's on sale at Canadian Tire.
