I ordered mine from gearbest with tracking and it arrived in 1 week. total was$53cdn.
if you order with just free shipping, no tracking, it may take longer
I did find many on various websites in the $50 range but they didn't sell as many as the person selling it for $65 with many positive feedback. Anyways I decided to order another one for $50.67 with tracking also on AliExpress so that will bring my average cost for each one down to $57.86 LOL
That 490 looks neat. Looks to be exactly like my 650S minus the wifi and built in GPS. I'd check with blackboxmycar to see if they'll stock it. When I was looking around for cameras, BBMC was the cheapest factoring shipping, border duties, and exchange. If you go with ebay, be careful when buying from the vendors who have free shipping to Canada, I did once and they used DHL which added a "handling" fee equivalent to 60% of my item's value.
Haven't decided yet from where to purchase, though BlackboxMyCar was my go-to. I see that they haven't shown it on their website yet, I'll have to reach out and see if/when they will. I recently got a new (to me) car and am looking for a solution quite soon!
Does this 490 have g-sensor notification? I currently have the DR650GW and it's annoying how there's no indication what-so-ever if my car's been hit or not.
I have very minor damage in the back of my car which I have no idea when it happened as I never noticed it until I washed my car and noticed some minor scuffs and cracked paint in my bumper. Any footage of that incident was long gone and overwritten.
And that brings up my 2nd point. My dashcam doesn't have a write-protected folder that automatically generates if it records a video triggered by the g-sensor.
My basic A118 dashcam in my other car seems to have these features that I would think are common sense to have in parking mode.

Not too sure on the ETA for DR490. I have been testing a prototype in my STI for a little over a week. Video quality is great, even though it's still 1080P, the front camera is better than the 650 as it's using the Sony STARVIS vs. the older Sony EXMOR so low light is better.
Other advantages to DR490:
- More durable rear camera cable: the DR650's coaxial cable was notoriously fragile at the tips, the DR490 uses a cable similar to a headphone jack
- Form factor: since there's no built-in wifi or gps, the size is a bit smaller but both cameras are fairly discreet IMO.
- Memory card partitioning: like most other parking mode cameras, it splits up the card into different folders for driving, events, and parking. That way, a hit and run is not going to get overwritten by regular driving or motion detection footage. DR650 records everything into one folder so it's easy for important files to get overwritten.
- Price point: in its base form the DR490 should be a fair bit cheaper than the DR650
Advantages to DR650:
- MP4 video files: The front and rear files are split up into 2 separate feeds and the .MP4 file format is just a lot more compatible. Not a big deal if you don't plan on sharing clips regularly. DR490 stitches front and rear clips into one file and records in .AVI (iirc)
- WiFi: Again, not a huge deal if you don't share clips regularly but WiFi is also very convenient for changing settings as well. Most people don't change settings after their initial setup though tbh.
- Cloud: With DR650 you can link it to your home wifi or even something like ShawOpen to send you notifications if your camera detected an event in parking mode. May be nice to have if someone is messing with your car, you can have your baseball bat ready.

How long has this product been out in the market? The ideas seem good but here are my concerns off the top of my head:
How quickly can you access the video from your phone in an event? Does it take like 30 seconds to connect and buffer? With my current dashcam, I've had issues with just getting WiFi to connect to review my videos or settings when I'm inside the car, it's slow and a PITA.
Also 2CH dashcam lasts me like half a day. Depending on quality of the videos and how sensitive the setting is (to detect incidents properly), your battery might not last long enough to support 360 recording for a practical length of time.

Need some info on using add-a-circuit (or fuse tap)
If I'm connecting this in a 25 amp spot in my fuse box... does both my fuses need to be a 25A? Could I use a lower fuse?
The fuse that plugs into the add-a-circuit that protects the original circuit will need to be same as what you pulled out, 25A in your case. The dash cams pull very low current, i don't believe they pull more than 3 or 5 amps but you'd have to check your camera specs to make sure. I believe the smallest amperage you can get for those mini fuses are 3A anyway

Thanks.
I'm just connecting a 2ch Blackvue dashcam.
So to confirm, something like this will be ok:

anyone use a polarizer on their dashcam? my DR650 and beige dash dont get along, considering getting one but $50 seems kinda steep.
do u do a lot of night time driving as well? if so, the polarizer will make the night time footage very dark

Has anyone with a Blackvue tried using a 100MB/s UHS-3 microSD with it? Think I read somewhere that Blackvue says that the write speed might be too fast and it'll cause the videos to be distorted or the dash cam to overheat, is this true?

I’ve bought a cheap one from AliExpress for like $8 usd. I’ve crazy glued two metal tie on it and attached it to my dr650. Only thing I’ve noticed now is the image is a it darker at night. http://www.sportgps.com.au/media/cat...i-0806-cpl.jpg
