My first claim for the Type R ass hole didn't even leave a note.

Surprisingly the girl didn't stay as a witness either.

The driver just continued to park like nothing happened.
The Audi was still there when we left. I only discovered the damage about 3 hours later. Unfortunately the dash cam didn't save the bit where the driver came out of the vehicle. I keep wondering if they even checked.
I mean come on... B9 A4 doesn't it have backup camera and sensors?
Does anyone have a suggestion for dash cam that I can connect to a portable battery pack where I can just record in my parkade while it's parked overnight.
I don't want to deal with any wire splicing and only need it when the vehicle is parked.

Any of those low end china brand dash cams should be powered by USB mini B connector that you can use a USB battery pack to power. The Korean ones tend to require a 12V cable for power.
I use the Viofo A119 series cameras and they work fine with my portable USB battery pack.
How long does it last on the battery pack that you have?
I have one of those USB digital multimeters, and the A119 when recording uses around 400ma's.
I have several battery packs, from 8000mah to 20000mah. Over time, I guess from daily use, they lose the advertised performance/capacity, so it's a good idea to have several packs and rotate them.
Cheap no name packs suck. I've bought a cheap no name 16000mah pack on Amazon that perform worse than the 8000mah pack I got at Costco. My packs are mostly Aukey battery packs that you can buy on Amazon.
Running in parking mode from about 10pm to 7am, the 20000mah packs are good for about 3-4 days before the battery indicator shows less than 1/4 charge, so by then I usually charge it.

Ive been using this Sandisk extreme 64gb card in my Dr650 for like 3 years and never had any issues with it and I've formatted it like only 10 times. Definitely would recommend to anyone.

You mean those Aukey power banks that you can use for charging your cellphones? I have those.. but how do you install it so that your dashcam drains from the battery pack?

?? Plug the camera into the USB battery pack ??
I bought a 10ft USB cable and tucked in the wiring on the head liner/A pillar, like I did with the dash cam 12V wiring.
This obviously only works if your dash camera can be powered by 5V USB. If you have one that requires a 12V power source, then it won't work. You'll need some kind of power converter/adapter.
I'm blaming the intense heat... the 'NAND' chip got fried according to Blackvue tech support.... lame lame lame. tried different microSD cards, different power adaptor, reformating microSDs, ... nada.
doesn't boot up past the flashing lights... no voice... dead.

oh ok, nvm. I thought your dashcam was hardwired into the fusebox and you had the Aukey battery as a backup like a Cellink Battery B.
I have a blackvue DR650, so I think it only powers up by 12V.

Since my blackvue 650S died - (currently being shipped out for warranty replacement) - I thought I'd try out this new Thinkware F200DG - on sale at BEST BUY for $229 until July 26!!!

My 650S might have died too. Lately, it's been acting up... I'm not sure if it's from the heat or what...
Is the F200DG any good? I might jump on that deal.

The F200 is an upgraded F100 but minimal, the rear cam is still a 720p unit but the front unit does look better. And there's wifi now which is a nice plus.
Do you know how does the video quality compare with a 650S?
At this point, I don't mind minimal as long as it has the essentials like good video quality, 2ch, good parking mode, etc. Since I've had 2 blackvues so far.. It has everything I need, but I could have opted out on the wifi and cloud if possible, since I never use it.

I've never experienced anything more frustrating in my life than googling "best daschcam" and reading all the tech site review summaries... there are so many features I couldn't give a fuck about, why can't someone just make one that has super high-res video and doesn't overheat like every BlackVue?
I don't need wifi or a screen (Why do I need to watch what the camera is recording while i'ts recording? I would hope I'm looking out my windshield for that!) or a touch screen or GPS system or traffic warnings or it to tell me what time dinner is ready... like seriously............
I was pretty shocked when I learnt Blackvue doesn't even do something basic like store footage triggered by g-sensor into a overwrite protected folder so that those clips don't get overwritten by accident.
I don't know about the other Blackvue's, but the 650 seems to have a faulty sensor sensitivity setting in parking mode. It goes form 0-100, but if you select anything from 1-100, it records non stop, but if you set it to 0, it never records even if you shake your car.
I just leave my sensitivity on 15, and it records non stop, which means I go through my entire 128gb sd card in about 3 days. Without an overwrite protection folder though, someone could have put a minor dent on the passenger side and I possibly not notice until a week later, after that files been long overwritten.
It's nice have have wifi, cloud, and all those fancy features, but it's kind of mind blowing how they prioritized all that over something basic and imo, much more essential.
