Target heart rate only for cardio? Is keeping your heart rate at 65%-90% only for cardio? Or does it apply to people lifting big weights as well? What happens if you only do heavy/low reps but your heart rate doesn't stay up? Or you take big breaks in between sets? |
I dunno about most people....but i don't measure my heart rate if its not cardio. In ways, i find it irrelvent in knowing your heart rate during lifts.... You're not lifting for 10-20 minutes straight....so your heart rate is going to fluctuate regardless between sets, it doesn't necessary serve a purpose if your heart rate goes up or not. More people take brakes in between sets to rest their muscles, not recover from an anaerobic workout. |
Whats the ideal rest time between a set? |
If you're trying to max out your heartrate, then i would say you wouldn't want to be resting for more than a minute. If its lifting....well, a minute or less is ideal, but if your muscles can't do it, your muscles can't do it. |

if you want to have a high heart rate, you can look into circuit training where you constantly move to different exercises without or little breaks in between. |
