See, this is what my understanding was originally from people I know who worked in the industry.

It's like real estate. Easy to make 30k yr, put a little work in and you can crack 40-50k, spend your whole life working and you'll make bank. It's the same thing with car sales.

What are the requirements to start working as a car salesman?
Do you need any type of license?
Do you have to have some previous sales experience?
How could someone who doesn t have any sales experience start working at a dealership?

Yes you need a license, you should have exp or you have a high chance of failing. But if you're a likeable person that isn't a sleazeball and know your product and can close you should do OK.

Just apply. See what happens. That's what i did.

One of the perks that some sales people get is VERY subsidized lease rates. My friend works at MB and he can afford to lease an E-class at much lower than market value...although he really doesn't make very much.

it all depends on the your work ethic/ sales skills and ofcourse.. connections. My dad's best year in fleet sales was 290k a year.. average is around 150 to 180k. mind you.. the guys been in car sales for 30 years...

average salesman is about 60k+ from what i've been told.. and i'll take his word for it lol. Again this all depends on skills, experience, etc..
Theres also guys that make 30-40k a year and shouldn't be in car sales..

Fiat owns Chrysler now. The 500 is available in Canada at the moment, and I believe they plan on bringing a couple more cars over in the next year.

I had no idea that those salesmen at the Fido booth could earn so much.
Do they also need a license before working in that field?

This would almost sound believable, if not for the last part. What kind of business would give their subordinates a credit card with a $10,000 limit, and request no discretion on the items charged to it?

Maybe such a business exists. But to give it to a cell phone salesman? Why bother?

I dont care how good you are at cellphone or car sales, you won't get a CC to use for your own benefits.
I've been awarded with pre-paid CC for hundreds as a bonus but never a company CC that let's u freely use. Even managers at car dealerships who have a work CC, they get regularly monthly checks to see where it was used FOR the business.

Here is the absolute high end, Sales Manager at Ferrari.

Stuart Coutts

And

Brian Jessel Autosports Inc., and Brian Jessel Sport

Cars Inc., carrying on business as Brian Jessell Ferrari

CanLII - 2004 BCSC 617 (CanLII)

[1] Stuart Coutts was employed by Brian Jessel Sport Cars Inc. (“Brian Jessel Ferrari”) as a Sales Manager of Ferrari vehicle sales for about 4˝ years. The Ferrari dealership closed on May 24, 2003, thus terminating Mr. Coutts’ employment. Mr. Coutts sues for damages for wrongful dismissal and also for commissions that he says he earned on three sales that took place prior to the conclusion of his employment.

[2] The defendant, Brian Jessel Sports Cars Inc., says that it gave the plaintiff eleven weeks of working notice, plus the equivalent of an additional seven weeks’ salary. The defendant says the amount paid is sufficient to satisfy its obligation to give Mr. Coutts reasonable notice of termination of his employment.

Facts

[3] The facts in this case are relatively straightforward and I have concluded that the matter is capable of resolution at a summary trial. Both parties agree that the matter can be resolved on a summary trial basis. Any conflicts in the evidence are minor or can be resolved on the basis of the various affidavits and discovery evidence tendered at this summary trial.

[4] Stuart Coutts began his employment with the predecessor of Brian Jessel Sport Cars Inc., Brian Jessel Autosports Inc., in the fall of 1998. In these Reasons for Judgment I will refer only to the defendant Brian Jessel Sport Cars Inc. I am told by counsel that it is the correct defendant.

[5] Mr. Coutts’ earnings during the years that he worked for the defendant were as follows:

1998 $ 18,311.00 3 months

1999 $165,949.53 12 months

2000 $206,565.98 12 months

2001 $300,587.32 12 months

2002 $282,763.81 12 months

2003 $107,112.20 5 months

Number one rule of lying, make it somewhat believable.

the hookers and blows part is obviously a joke. the rest is true. he doesnt work at a fido booth. he works at wireless wave in metrotown which is busy. he makes a lot of money for the company because he pretty much can get them hookup with any cellphone companies and not restricted to one.

i see... got a a question.
do people at a fido booth could earn about the same... Or those are mostly on a salary?
I guess one of the advantages of working at a wireless wave is not being limited to one wireless carrier.
