What brand, what location, Length of employment, the commission agreement. Those come to mind.
And vague questions gets vague answer.
So i'm thinking..20K to 430K (as per sarcasm :P).

Actually, I've always been curious about this. I did retail for about 5 years.
I was always the top seller in my store, you just learn to read people, what they really want. So let's say I'm a slightly above average salesman working at like Toyota or Honda or something. Would I be doing a shit 20k wage? Or something middling like 50k?

Depends what cars you're selling. More money in used than new. If I sell 3 big grossers in one month, I'd make way more than 10 flats on new. (depending on which new though)
Most places youre basically lookign at minimum wage. Then when you make more than your minimum you start makign commission. Flats are 150-300 at most places. And lots of used units can make you 500-1000 pretty easily. And every once in a while you can do a 2-3k if you play your cards right.

3-5% i believe..some months u can make a fat paycheck. Most car salesman are not used to getting a fat paycheck once they get paid so they go out, party like a rockstar and getting fucked cause some weeks/months they make shit and they didn't save up. Buddy is a salesman btw.
