Help me pick!

So Im thinkin of getting the rogers 65$ 6gb data unlimited pretty much everything plan. So im wondering whats better the Samsung galaxy s infuse or a BB (9780 or 9900, whatever bb is comparable to the samsung)
I dont use my phone to game a whole lot i do a lot of texting/bbming/emailing/browsing internet etc.
-Some of the things that draw me to the samsung is 4g :D the fact that i can use it as a wireless hotspot for my labtop, the nice big touch screen

-Things that draw me to the BB are BBM the fact that its so user friendly (I have a 9700 with os6) and the keyboard.

Anddd another option is ofcourse mobilicitys unlimited everything for like 45$.....How is there service now?

** Sorry for this thread being a bit incoherent its late and ive been up since 6 :banghead:

Thanks for your input!

if your life revolves around a instant messaging app get a blackberry.

if you want to do more, get the samsung.

From what it seems like the new berries dont have much to offer over the old ones.
Get the infuse

whats this $65 unlimited everything plan that you speak of? i have not heard anything about it..

9900 is a big upgrade.

Strzelec 08-13-2011 08:37 AM

The 9900 is very good. If your main things are emailing, texting, and bbming (which cant be done on the samsung) I definitely suggest the 9900. Even the browser is decent. I would say the browser is better than what my Desire had (Froyo) if you dont count flash support.

I also remember seeing somewhere that the 9810 would get the hotspot feature, so I'm guessing that the 9900 could also get it soon.

The infuse isn't 4g. There are no actual 4g networks in BC. Bellus claims 4g speeds. The LTE network that's coming will be 4g but none of the current phones will support the correct band.

the infuse is sized more like a tablet than a phone

you can get a 4G phone if you want, but you won't get 4G service in Canada. We are so far behind in technology, it will be a while before we have 4G up here. Even in the USA, 4G is not available everywhere. You will be using 3G almost all of the time.

Its the my 10, 200 weekday (maybe 150?) unlimited evening 9pm-? 6 gb data plan from rogers, the exact specs are on their site i believe.

Hows winds and mobos service now? Last term at BCIT i didnt have service with mobo on the lower floors (ehpod was good tho?) and then in the basement I was living on (off of cambie) I didnt have service....when i went to rogers i had service in that same basement.

I just had a look at the wind 29$ plan...sweet, if they have good service.

The samsung seems a bit bulky to me, but that might just because i have a attachment to the bb (i had a 9000 before my 9700)

Any word on if the 9900 will get the hotspot thing? and also if it can be upgraded onto bb after initial purchase or would it have to come out of the box capable of the hotspot thing?

---and does the wind plan inclube bbm?

Teh Doucher 08-16-2011 11:04 PM

Oh I have that one lol. That's not really unlimited everything... Just to 10 people it is.

Today me and GF went into Future shop and tried the Infuse and the 9900. We are stuck between the two, too.

In the end I think we will both grab the 9900, since we both have tablets and laptops.

We are going from a iPhone 4 and a 3GS.

The Infuse is really really nice but I think we want a phone thats more a phone than anything.

I've been reading tho that the 9900 has a bad batter life. (faster processor, bigger screen, smaller battery... doesn't make sense)

It's all about power management. OS 7 along with the new snap dragon processor manages power much better than OS 6

At first when I switch my device from the 9800 to 9900 the battery life was lacking. After wiping the 9900 fully, removing useless apps I didn't need (super easy), and doing a selective restore of certain data/options, my battery has been stellar. Off the charger at 8 am, by 8 pm I had 50% left. Also cycled the battery after everything was done.

Basically won't be a problem for you if you are not going to be transferring data from an older blackberry. As the OS updates come in, you'll see better battery life.

Take a look here for a review on the 9900's battery life:
