That's fucked.

who even has 100+ feedbacks? lol

there will always be a risk no matter what but it's minimized if you do local + cash only and meet up in a public place and/or go with a friend

I just had a woman contact me about buying my torch and shipping it to London for his son. I remembered they had scams like this a while back, didn't know they are still doing it

speaking of paypal...so i bought a used item from a seller in alberta through paypal, but he messed up on the shipping and didnt packaged it very well. When I received the item, the corners are chipped and he forgot to ship out the hardwares for the installation.

i have talked to the seller over the phone and email but hes just super slow and irresponsible on things - he said he would ship me back the hardware by last friday because he was going to go on vacation, and obviously he forgot (still trying to give him the benefit of doubt)..

i dont mind keeping the damaged product...but i would like some sort of refund back because of its condition and missing hardware, should i be filing a chargeback through paypal? like is there such option to choose on getting some amount of money back but not all??

sorry for the thread hijack...but i just needed some quick help while we are on this topic.

thanks in advance!

^Was the item from eBay btw?

Also, on paypal if you go to the transaction, on the bottom of the page there's something like "Having problems with this transaction? Find a resolution within 45 days" and fill out the form from there.

no, the item was purchased privately through another forum (thats why i apologized for thread hijack :P)...but i requested for a paypal transaction just in case something happens and here we are lol

and yes, i did see that section and it brings u to the charge back section iirc...thats why i wanted to see if im doing the right thing coz i dont really want the charge back to credit me back the full amount but instead just some.

thanks for the help!

Ship the damaged items back and file a dispute. There's no point nagging. Some sellers are like that: very attentive before the sales then no where to be seen if there're problems later on.

File the dispute before the 45 day period or you're SOL. Maybe he's trying to wait that 45-day out.

only way to safely do it, is make an ebay listing, and have him buy it. then pay through paypal and ship to his confirmed address.

because even thou you are using Paypal, they do not cover Item sales outside of Ebay. (ebay and paypal is the same company, and it doesnt matter what you buy as a transaction it rarely is actually protected)

I have been selling phones on CL for a few years now. Every now and then I got some random email wanting me to ship to Africa, South America. They can make up a whole lots of reasons.

"My son/husband is conducting an scientific research in West Africa and I want to get him a Samsung Galaxy S2, etc.... "

I never deal with anyone who wouldn't pay me in CASH.
