A 911 Turbo is...what...$160k? Before you get to any options?
What kind of "options" are you talking about? Anything else is just excessive and unnecessary. Do you even know or understand the 911s spartan origins?

Funny most people seem to think those were the ones with the most "soul". Modern lambos dont grab attention like old ones did in their prime.
Seeing the average porsche is no more "wow" than seeing a 3 series bmw.
As you can see most of the porsches people in this thread have posted arn't the kinda porsches you'd see everyday anyways.
I don't need to drive a shit car for people to go wow. I can drive a 911 which is a great vehicle and has a much better professional image than a lambo.
As far as 3-Series goes, they are a fun little mass market car but not really in the same league.

Your initial statement was that there are more interesting cars that can be had for 911 money. I didn't realize you were referring to Turbo money which increases the choices considerably.
The Aston Martin does not outperform a 911TT in any objective category. It is more of a GT car than a sports car. The V8 Vantage is an inferior car and it has the same issue that Boxster/Cayman has which is that it is not quite a DB9.

I'd take the Aston if I wanted something good looking. I'd buy an M5 (around the same price range...$150k for a 2012?) if I wanted a supercar in a family car body.
An M5 is a sporty car not a sports car. It is not a driver's car like a 911. Compare it to a Panemera Turbo S.

That and I don't know how I would ever justify buying a 911 Turbo over a GT-R which is just as quick, if not quicker, produces pretty much the same numbers and cost half as much...or about as much as a base model 911.
Easy. It's like choosing to wear a Rolex vs. a Seiko.

For the general public, Porsches probably don't grab that attention because it's a fairly common car nowdays, there's about 8 or 9 911s in the parking garage at my work.
people who buy track focused porsches (turbos, GT3, GT3rs, GT2rs, etc) are buying them because they want the closest thing to a race car with a license plate. That's it...if you want a look at me car, go buy a lambo.
If you are spending $180K plus a porsche that looks like a $90K Carrera, I actually respect that more than buying a 04 Murc for $150K
I love Aston's too, but performance wise, they suck....perfect world would be a GT3RS and a Vantage Sport! Oh and a honda for your DD.

I don't get what's so special about "German" engineering.
My wife bought a super expensive German clothes iron. Large text said "MADE IN GERMANY" on the thing.
It died 2 months after the 1 year warranty was up.
I once had a German car, it was a fucking heap. I couldn't believe "German" engineers could have designed something so bad, almost like the parts were DESIGNED to fail after a certain period of time.
"German engineering" means nothing to me.
"Made in USA" doesn't hold any weight for me either.

yup, anything made in germany I stay the hell away from
Ugh, you're one of those people... Textbook definition of poseurs. Poseurs in a lambo or poseurs in a civic, both are poseurs. There are plenty people who aren't interested in people looking at them and just want to be left alone.
Theres nothing wrong with catching people`s attention and super cars are made to do that and more. There are people who actually appreciate the car`s performance and the outrageous looks just adds to the whole exotic ownership experience.
Personally theyre just too common around here now, like the new camaro or challenger. They were great at first but now with the amount there are its just like so what theyre there. Also depends on where you go and see one, My cousin who came from England couldnt believe the amount over here compared to over there. Here he saw quite a few a day compared to maybe he sees one a week over there. Its also the fact that this is what we have grown up around that makes them that more "common"
Is it me or when you see a Porsche drive by or even on the streets, you don't get that "Wow! A porsche" type of feeling that it is supposed to generate?
"It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good ... They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time. "
I have driven a few of the super cars(or close to it) on track: f430, scuderia, lp640, lp560, lp560 superleggera, clk63 black series, r8, db9, and a 997 turbo. (ok also a f458..but on the street, so I didn't push it much)
I am not the fastest in the 997 turbo...but it is one of the more challenging cars to drive fast and the power from that rear engine is something else coming out of tight corners. I think I enjoy driving the 997 turbo the most out of all those cars. Sound wise.... I have to give it to the f458.
Porsche 911s still grab my attention, since it is one of my dream cars. Same goes for any Ferrari, and the Aston Martin DB9. DB9s will always grab my attention.
It's the Lamborghinis that have lost that magic touch for me though. Maybe because i've seen the one parked in Aberdeen store way too often, maybe it's the number of Lambos i've seen driving around in a sunny day in Vancouver. It's too common for an "exotic" car now...
