I love that his argument basically is "If you don't like this thing that I like, then there must be something wrong with you and not this thing I think is awesome and that makes you a stupidface." I'm literally hearing this thread in my brain and it's like babies crying because we think their favorite toy is stupid. |

Had a friend who met a girl at a club, she saw his car and the first thing she said was wow is that a boxster? He got soooo pissed 911turbo lolz. |

You're paying for factory engineered from the getgo combination of everyday livability and performance combined when you buy a Porsche -- it's freaking fast the way it is and it's super comfy and quiet too. Anyone can modify any car to be fast. You can buy a 1988 Ford Festiva for $200 and put a Taurus SHO engine in the back seat and beat a significant amount of cars around a track. |

I love the hell out of my Porsche and could care less what someone else thinks of my enjoyment. |

If your friend had a techart 997 it is likely it was modified for style rather than performance. Aftermarket suspensions often make Porsches handle worse. It is easy to make a car look more aggressive or ride firmer. Porsche engineers spend 1000s of hours on the track and computer simulation models fine tuning the suspension for the chassis to give it the right handling balance. A 370z is not in the same handling league as a 911. Never has been. Never will be. |

A shit car removes every aspect of driving involvement where there is no joy left from the machine because mfg tolerances are so loose that a layer of numbness is designed in so you don't feel how crappy the components and materials used to make the machine really are. |
LOL, I wasn't arguing any point! I was just telling a story about the car one of the members posted, Im actually a huge Porsche fan. You made a judgement about my friend without knowing anything about him other than he can drive a 370 faster than he can drive a 911. He tracks regularly; perhaps he doesn't have the skill to drive a 911 at its absolute limits(who on the forum really does?) but that doesn't make him a shitty driver. |

If I had the money, I could care less if I show up in a Ferrari F430 or a Chrysler 300 at an appointment. If it's a nice sunny day and want to enjoy my time getting from point A to B why should I care what others think? Are you going to stop doing business with me if I decide to bring a flashy exotic car? Besides, it's not like the appointment is going take place inside your car. No one's probably even gonna see you getting out of your car so stop thinking so much about perception or impression if it's not an interview. I agree with your example on the charity event though. |

^ but you're still going to be sacrificing a lot of ride quality and daily driveability of the 370Z. reading this thread was somewhat interesting in the first two pages. now my head just hurts. :( I heart Porsches, and you can't take that away from me. I remember as a kid in 1988-89 where I would egg my dad on to drive his 944turbo to 250kph and beyond lol! he told me a few kill stories back then on how he smoked a few 5.0L Mustangs in that car. pretty sweet in my opinion. |

Your friend's Techart 997 is also no longer factory spec, so who knows if there was a decrease in performance because of it. Even an average driver should be able to get more performance out of a 911 than a 370. |

That being said, if you aren't comfortable taking the 911 to where it can (I certainly cannot), then I won't admonish him for stepping down into a easier car to drive...hell, I drive a FF car and when I pass P-cars @ Mission, I know it's not because I'm a better driver, but others haven't learned to handle the 911 yet. The good 911 drivers, all I see are their tail lights. TBH, this thread proves that Porsches still garner attention...a bunch of dudes on a forum are having an argument about it. |
