insomniac 09-26-2011 01:21 PM

how does this port in plan work? :noob: :okay:

stereo12 09-26-2011 04:05 PM

buddies shop is having a big sale on friday, to go with the port in credits.

port in credits work, as what you think it means.

if you port in your current number, you get a port in credit in your Mobilicity account.

FerrariEnzo 09-26-2011 08:59 PM

WTF.. now they offer a port in credit... WHERE was this last month when i ported in.. Fucking Mobi...

AVS_Racing 09-26-2011 09:01 PM

ughs im still having dead spots to port in my # to use as my main line

K-Dub 09-26-2011 09:59 PM

i'm gonna go in to ask for the port in credit, you guys should try as well.

ShadowBun 09-26-2011 10:11 PM

i doubt it'll be a store specific thing?

Psykopathik 09-28-2011 08:51 AM

I posted this on RFD so i thought id paste here too.

For those late top the party I'll try to Summarize everything:

The plan is supposed to end at the end of SEPTEMBER. Don't wait too long!

NO YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A STUDENT. It's open to everyone, it's just a name.

To get on Mobilicity, you need an AWS frequency phone like the Samsung Nexus S (not from Fido/Rogers/Koodo). Wind phones will work if they are unlocked. Many T-Mobile phones also work if unlocked as well.

$25 Back To School Plan includes:
Unlimited Data
Unlimited Local Calling
Unlimited Text & Picture Messaging
Mobilicity to Mobilicity Calling
Caller I.D.

$40 Back to School Plan includes:
Unlimited Data
Unlimited Long Distance to Canada & the U.S.
Unlimited Global Text Messaging
Unlimited Local Calling
Unlimited Text & Picture Messaging
Call Waiting
Call Forwarding
3-Way Calling
Voicemail + Caller I.D.

Promotions:

-Port in your number and take either plan and get $50 credit (My Wallet) with the $25 plan, or $100 on the $40 plan
-Sign up (by calling in) for the Automatic payments and get $20 credit.
*My Wallet = when you setup an online account, you have a thing called My Wallet. Any credits you get go there. You can use the $ to pay for anything (roaming/long distance/add ons/pay your bill) or buy phones etc. Cannot be converted to Cash.
*The credits will be distributed in monthly installments of $10-$20/ month, not a lump sum.
-Cheap phones

Things to consider:

CONS
-Mobi (like Wind) is a small company, they don't have as many towers and therefore, worse reception than Rogers or any of the Major companies = dropped calls, dead zones, no service in underground areas.
-Data isn't really unlimited. It's 5 GB. after you hit your cap, they slow you down until your next billing period.
-Dealers seem a little underhanded making up deals as they go. Be wary.

PROS
-Cheap as hell, not likely to ever be offered again. Unlike Wind who's $29 plan is only good for 12 months.
-Tethering is FREE, everyone else charges.
-NON contract. leave anytime you want, no penalty.
-My Bill every month is $28 AFTER TAX. everything is included. No System Access fee/911 BS.
-Plan is good FOREVER, sell it to someone else for $14,000 in the BST forum like a ****** later.

I'll add more as I think of it.

stereo12 09-28-2011 01:08 PM

Its not really a cap, Both Wind and Mobi will throttle the data speed.. but as of now, it wouldnt make much different, as both are slow as hell..

youre right. i found this:
Quote:

In order to address congestion issues, ensure the quality of Internet services and any other reasonable reasons, Internet traffic may be managed and preferred speed may be given for certain class(es) of application.
so no cap, but if people start torrenting, this could change

Just heard that Moboilicity wont be getting Iphone5.

My buddy works at Mobilicity

Vansterdam 09-29-2011 09:11 AM

that 469$ one year deal with the blackberry curve is a killer deal

would get the 9900 if i could get a deal if its unlocked and use it with fido lol

NSX 09-29-2011 09:50 AM

I lost my CC a few days ago, got a new one, forgot to update Mobilicity. They texted me this morning and said my payment did not go through. I called in to update my CC information, and the service Rep gave me $20 for signing up for prepay....even though I was already on Prepay. Got another $30 off for referring a friend earlier in the month. Almost forgot about that one. My next bill is $4.

FYI if you jump to mobilicity and don't buy a phone off of them b/c you're going to get a used one off CL or something, you gotta pay $20 for a sim card. not sure if that is waived if you're porting over though.

different bands so no 3g if you plan on using with fido. im tempted to get this deal as well, but IMO with shotty service where i live, it just doesnt seem like its worth it.

really? I thought 9900 supports all the bands

3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 / 800
HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100

Simplex123 09-29-2011 11:16 AM

^Ya all bands (NA/Europe/Asia) but AWS lol
This Mobilicity one should have the same bands as the T-Mobile one, which are: (copied form the T-Mobile site) 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)
The first bunch should be the Rogers/Fido 2G bands and second bunch should be AWS 3G/H+
