How is the reception and network for mobilicity? I heard its pretty bad and Ive had wind for the past year and about 1 out of 2 conversations it cuts out for 10 seconds and sometimes it cuts out completely, the line gets disconnected and the phone says "network busy". I hate it it is so annoying.

if there are locations you frequent and stay at for an extended period of time, i can see how wind and mobilicity are appealing. and i guess students do no need to be reached all the time. imo, it's not really a deal. $50/month gets you reliable reception. $25/month doesn't. you get exactly what you pay for.

Hmmm very interested... since I rarely ever use my phone to talk (I literally talk maybe 10 mins a week at MOST)... i solely use my phone for email and text. And browsing...

ShadowBun 08-14-2011 02:47 PM

nice deal

dam
too bad i dont have a phone that works with them

CRS 08-14-2011 03:26 PM

The $40 plan is pretty amazing. Unlimited North American calling and unlimited data? Wow.

Pretty much comes down to the call quality and data speeds which everyone knows is still hit or miss. I'm going to be living in Toronto for the next two years, right near downtown which I would assume would have pretty decent reception. I think it is probably when you go near the edges of their coverage zones when you start to experience spotty service.

Cassijon 08-14-2011 08:02 PM

how big is the mobilicity coverage area?

Fido, Koodoo, Chatr and all the branch offs do not and will not have a similar plan that includes IN.FUCKING.LIMITED data for $25.

I have unlimited data from Telus - $15/mo on top of my voice plan. And it's good anywhere on Telus' network, anywhere in Canada.

Only catch is, it's only good on my CDMA/EVDO phones... gonna lose it once I go to a GSM/3G/4G phone :(

AVS_Racing 08-14-2011 09:37 PM

ppl still use CDMA???!!

goddamn Nexus S has no Micro SD expansion slot.

GLOW 08-15-2011 10:23 AM

are their $100-150 phones decent? i'd just use it to text and browse using their unlimited data but most of their models i've never even heard of

i'm on a budget or else i'd go out and get a BB, nexus or optimus 2x :okay:

efa5 08-15-2011 10:45 AM

The nokia e73 is a pretty good smartphone at that price range.

Liquid_o2 08-15-2011 11:45 AM

just called mobilicity and it will be a grandfathered plan. Unlike Wind which I believe is only for the first year, if you sign up with this plan right now, you can have it technically forever.

I am sooooo tempted right now. Rogers offered me a my10 + data plan for $67 plus tax lol. They just cannot compete.

LP700-4 08-15-2011 12:12 PM

If only they had discounts for phones, like maybe like sign up for a plan get a certain amount of $$ towards a phone or something.......

Fuck Rogers right in the Asshole with a dry Pinecone!
