As in the cost of the simcard itself. Think most stores charge $15? or $20 for that card if you're not buying one of their phones.

Alatar 10-22-2011 05:41 PM

You mean without purchasing a phone? Mine was free with the purchase of the phone.

d1 10-22-2011 06:03 PM

Which location? The commercial location said I'd have to prepay 2 months to get the sim card for free when I went there 2 weeks ago even though I bought my phone there.

also went to the commercial location. signed up with them and i didn't have any sim card fee. maybe i missed it but i'm pretty sure i didn't.

I got mine during the midnight madness sale, so who knows, maybe it was a promotion for that night only?

Hey all,

How are you guys liking mobilicity's network? I'm thinking of leaving Rogers for them. Can't beat $40 a month for unlimited everything, as long as the network is good.

Any problems getting reception in malls and condo units?

Does anyone use the textback service from Translink? (i.e. 33333)

I can text them but I never get a reply and have to rely on the gay ass mobile website.

Hey guys, what are your 3g data speeds now?

And can you use data outside of vancouver? ie montreal.

Or would that considered out of the zone and you'll be charged for data roaming.

Where ever Mobi has service, its free, if you have data, if it goes into roaming, then you have to pay a roaming fee..

I dont think Mobi/Wind is in quebec, only Videotron is out there??

I got crazy good service too from mobilicity
one time I email them my reception was dead in my house .. 1 hour later I got a phone call from the tech team in ontario
2 hours later a person actually testing the network come by my house.. standing right in front of my door.
4 hours later a second person come by sitting in their ford transit in front of my house testing the network again. They could not find anything wrong . but at least my connection was restored. .. amazing service

montreal is out of zone. mob is in 5 cities afaik: vancouver, edmonton, calgary, ottawa, toronto. if you're out of those you're gonna be on roaming

ikki 10-23-2011 11:11 AM

last night I had no service at underground parking and inside a church building at Broadway & Slocan.

But I have good reception at home, open area (4 full bars)

I only got 2 or 3 full bar (out of 4) at Richmond Ikea.

Data speed sometimes is fast 131ms ping, 1542kbps d/l , 883kbps u/l , .i would say they have reasonable data speed.

That's amazing, cause my experience with dealing their support team has been the complete opposite. :)

what are you trying to do with the other sim?

are you activating a NEW number? - Free Sim

or are you porting in to replace an existing? - Replacing sim card so yes you have to pay for a new one. Thats why you should just port the first time.

Call them tho, im sure they give discounts for existing custies.

Don't even need to read much to know that their reputation about pricing and connection service has been quite wideknown in Vancouver

It would be nice to have said something about their service in your post rather than saying something that is completely ambiguous.

I was still under contract so I wanted to try it out before deciding. It has been decent so far so I've decided to make the switch.

Then cancel the "tryout" number and port in real one?

Since you're not on contract and I suppose only a month has passed, why not do what I listed?
