got it done today, got the nexus S

pros:
- dealt with my contract with rogers, no fee, no hassle
- will take any old phone as long as it turns on
- so far data speed is better than i expected, on par with rogers
- $200 credit as advertised, pay $6/mth as calculated
- got a free screen protector :D

cons:
- my bb curve ended up not being compatible with their network so had to buy new phone
- the $200 distributed is over 10mths

thanks for all your help guys, now gotta learn how to root/play with android!

Got the 25 dollar student plan, unlimited everything, and a curve 9360.

9900 is much better though

Tried to sign up for a Roger's pay as you go so that I could port over but then I get this message:

Your order has been submitted; however we are unable to activate your phone at this time. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your phone is activated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For help, please call 1 888 542-7437 to contact our activations centre.
Thank you for choosing Rogers Wireless.

FML. I called the number and they're currently closed. They better be open tomorrow so that I can take advantage of the port in creds and codes.

You still selling your Nexus S? Or are you ignoring me?!

Psykopathik 11-13-2011 07:09 AM

FerrariEnzo 11-13-2011 07:25 AM

stupid mobi... called them and bitch that when i ported in i got no credit, no nothing and now they offering these crazy deals.. porting out and back in wont work... i dont want to open a new line with wind and port in coz i like my current number...

i mean come on.. new customers get more benefits then older customers.. crazy..

VrrM604 11-13-2011 09:48 AM

anyone know if they'll be having any new phones within the next little while? thinking of pulling the trigger and getting a nexus S and switching from fido

Psykopathik 11-13-2011 02:11 PM

^ get the Telus Galaxy S2 X. Mine has better reception than the Nexus S

Any t-mobile phone will work too. you're paying full price, no subsidies, so why limit yourself to only what mobilicity is offering.

JHatta 11-13-2011 03:38 PM

Anyone know the reception in south surrey area??

I dont know about you but with Fido I had no data and had to pay for txt. So since I switched in Aug so far I have saved over $100 for switching earlier. Still happy.

Made the switch from wind. Hopefully it'll be ported over tomorrow morning. Can't wait to try out the data :alonehappy:

d1 11-13-2011 06:46 PM

How was wind?

Had a good experience with them! Customer service was fine when I needed help.
The coverage and reception were great around Richmond/Van/Surrey for my needs, with the exception of spotty reception up at SFU.
Also liked that Wind users got a free skimmed down version of facebook, so that was a bonus.

In the off chance that someone was following my earlier post, I managed to open my pay as you go plan on Rogers and it worked. I ended up calling their pay as you go activation line to get everything working instead of doing it online.

This is what happened...

Get a Rogers Sim Card (Unused/brand new) - $5
Open up a Pay as you go plan (by the minute plan) - $10+tax (was the min you can add)
Get a number that I liked from Rogers - 10 mins
Go to mobilicity store (1st and commercial) and port number - 10 mins

Steal a number from Rogers then get 200 credit from mobi? - Priceless (actually its +$175)

:D

Reminder that tomorrow is the last day for the port-in/trade-in credits!

Phozy 11-13-2011 09:33 PM

Yup, do it before it ends, honestly the best deal ever, cause its guranteed for life.

350 a year for unlimited plan is cheapppp, phone will be 200+ but thats still good, considering unlimited plans for other companies are like, $50 a month

-lincolnboi- 11-15-2011 01:05 AM

Weird, I can't receive incoming calls, but text, data, and outgoing calls still work :S Anyone else have this problem? Think it might be the sim. Swapped with my brothers and found out it was not my phone :okay:

If you JUST ported over, it takes about 3hrs for everything to get established.

During this 3hr process, you cannot receive calls and/or texts but can do data, send text and perform outgoing calls.

If it was done Sunday, this shouldn't be the case.

Go to a mobi store or call mobi and find out whats up?

Seeing as you can call them, why not?

:lol
