um.. for example. the phone regularly would be.... 600. on windtab its... 250(dependent on what wind sets it to me)
x% (i believe its 4) of your monthly bill, goes towards paying that tab. so starts at $250 on your tab, after a month it'll go down to $246? and so on so forth until your tab has been paid off.

fuck all these plans look so tempting but i'm really worried about the reception. also i have a pretty good plan with fido and dunno if i should give it up

No problems here in the GVRD on Wind. Even out in abby I get full bars. In the off chance that your phone does go into Wind Away, their rates are still much cheaper than rogers/fido rape rates.

DanHibiki 06-08-2012 09:53 PM

so does mobilicity have something like a windtab?

No.

Windtab is too much like a contract so mobi does not have it.

then you will not have problems with wind unless you're at an oddball spot in downtown but even then that's rare

yameen 06-09-2012 11:36 AM

been with them for over half a year now since the $25 promo and had pretty good reception in vancouver/richmond/north van.

Honestly, i can't say. but logically why spend $ on upgrading the network if you're still gonna throttle like crazy?

could possibly mean at least a consistent 3Mbps down and 1 Mbps up, instead of the abysmal 1-2 down and 200kbps up (and thats on a good day)

Maybe even lift the throttle and instigate a hard cap.

still pretty vague.

90% of Mobi's traffic is Data.

from Mobilsyrup

Mobilicity currently operates in the core of Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Vancouver and recently announced an initiative to bump up their network speed to “4G” 21Mbps – this is expected to happen sometime “later this year.” Today they also declared some major expansion plans to their current coverage map, specifically targeting those in Southern Ontario, Vancouver and Edmonton. There’s no date of when the coverage will go live as it’s part of their “future plans to widen its unlimited network,” however, those located in the following areas can expect to see Mobilicity coverage soon:

Vancouver: White Rock, Pitt Meadows and the Richmond-Surrey commuter corridors
Edmonton: Expanding St. Albert to the north and southward to the airport
Ontario: Milton, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Barrhaven, Orléans and Cumberland.

Mobilicity has “well above 200,000” subscribers and has plans that range from $25/month to $55/month and recently declared that data accounts for almost 90% of their network traffic.

So does the LG optimus L7 from Fido work with mobilicity if unlocked?

EDIT: also is the unlimited data from Mobi still actually only 5gb? like you mentioned in your OP

stereo12 06-23-2012 09:56 AM

today!

any 1 else setting up a line today?

message me lets take advantage of their referral program!

up to $50 to both of us! :fullofwin:

guddagudd 06-23-2012 05:03 PM

Breaking Free is simple:

1. Call your current wireless provider or check your monthly bill to find out your account number
2. Use our Store Locator to find a store nearest you
3. Visit the store to select your phone and unlimited plan and provide the sales rep with your account number.

We’ll take care of the rest!

Fucking BS. I went today and the sales rep there basically said you have to end the contract yourself. And any implication that they'll handle the contract breaking fee is false. Shitty.

If you end the contract yourself then you lose your number. I think they meant that they will port your number over and stop service from your old provider, but you are still responsible for paying the penalties for ending your contract early :concentrate:

What lincolnboi said.

There was never any implication that they would cover any fee for ending your contract early. The port-in credit (current promotion), will technically cover you for $200. Even then the credit is applied to your wallet in increments of $10/month IIRC.

But for them, all you need is an account number from your current carrier and they will end it the contract for you (but obviously not take care of the penalty).

there is no mention of an actual HARD CAP, from Mobi, more like "inferred"

however due to the slow speeds of their data, its kind of hard to hit 5GB unless you are downloading hardcore. not to mention your phone will heat up pretty good. they also throttle you if you exceed 150mb/hr. the throttle is lifted after 1 hr.
