^ I've heard the same. Mobilicity is month-to-month, correct? If so, why don't you try it for a month while you still have your Rogers plan. If you like it, cancel Rogers. If you don't, cancel Mobilicity.

I remember playing with my friends phone on Mobilicity awhile back and internet speed is ridiculously slow, and he gets dropped calls half the time.

Is it worth the switch?

why don't you look into wind then? better coverage, stronger reception

Go to wind..much better reception..mobi sucks donkey cock

^^ Is Wind's reception and internet speed really that much better? Can anyone using Wind right now confirm this?

Im really tempted to switch to another carrier. My Rogers plan is ridiculous and my iphone4 is pretty slow online. Especially when i compare up to my friends iphone4s on LTE using SpeedTest. Both on Rogers network!

$40 talk/txt/data Wind plan PLUS $8 Voicemail PLUS $10 for whatever Permium Data is.
That'll run me close to $70/month.

vs....My current $80/month with Rogers.

Just dont know if its worth switching to save $10 and risk dropped calls, and perhaps even SLOWER internet.

Unless im wrong with Wind.

i'm on wind. feel free to check the wind thread for stuff that may answer your questions.

i've never used mobilicity, was tempted at one point, but waited it out and jumped onboard with wind. never happier (switched from fido)

i'll ask you this though, are you the type that's okay with slower speeds? because technically speaking, rogers is faster, and has wider coverage, but thats why you pay the premium.

personally, when i was on fido, and i signed up with wind, there was a 1 month period where i was using both. and every time, my wind data speeds were faster than fido. fido being a branch of rogers, i can only imagine the speeds being similar.

reception, i have no problems with it. you may hit a weak/dead spot, but they're few. you'll have troubles in some obvious situations (elevators, hugee buildings, underground parkades) but not always.

the plan you're looking into.. if you're looking for a $40 plan, and don't quote me on this, but i think call id may be included? mine is, but i got mine during a special promotion. as for the premium data, trust me, you wont need it. unless you use well over 5-10gb of data a month, it's pointless. If i recall correctly, "premium data" is only increasing your monthly limit before the slow your data speeds down.

normally it's around 5gb a month, before they slow down your speeds. premium data add-on increases that limit to 10gb.

data speeds range anywhere from 1.5mbps - 4.5 mbps (i've reached 5mbps a few times before)

I am on Wind too but I find their data speed is very inconsistent, I usually get between 3 - 5 mbps, the best I got was 8.76 mbps while I was in my work area.

i will agree with that
and although its inconsistant, its very acceptable for what you pay for.

I almost ported out from Mobi yesterday but they didn't have any white S3's in stock at that location and i don't have time to drive all over the city.

after losing my $2/month, the whole thing doesn't seem worth it to me any more. I have been rooting for Mobi, but I think the time has come for me to move on.

anyone wanna buy an white unlocked Pentaband Note? :D

AVS_Racing 09-21-2012 10:50 PM

^^ what did you want to switch to?

ShadowBun 09-22-2012 12:18 AM

I just switched from Mobo -> Wind couple weeks ago

Overall I am happy.
CS wise.. mobilicity wins
Spoiler!

After a couple weeks
Got to say WIND has more coverage, voice quality is good and that speed is faster

I never imagined that you'd jump ship to WIND. Nonetheless, welcome aboard. Let us know what your experience is like with WIND vs Mobilicity in the other thread.

Psykopathik 09-24-2012 04:39 PM

6 Mbps down, 1 Mbps up. instant signal after reboots.

Toronto, ON – September 24, 2012 – Mobilicity and Samsung Canada today announced that the Samsung GALAXY Note II will be arriving on Mobilicity’s unlimited data, talk and text network. Providing a unique user experience with personalized and expressive content creation, the Samsung GALAXY Note II is the ultimate smartphone for on-the-go productivity.

Its 16:9 screen ratio ensures an immersive and enriched cinema-like video viewing experience, perfect for watching HD videos on-the-go. Its larger screen allows users to see content clearly and vividly, with much enhanced readability. In addition to the stunning content consumption experiences on a larger screen, users will also be able to accomplish more tasks efficiently and create content freely on-the-go, as the GALAXY Note II comes with a thinner and portable body.

“Samsung continues to innovate the GALAXY Note product family with the Samsung GALAXY Note II, which enables users to create content and share like never before,” said Paul Brannen, Vice President, Enterprise Business Solutions at Samsung Canada. “We are thrilled to work with our carrier partners to deliver a device that allows Canadians to maximize their productivity in the workplace and on-the-go.”

Just wondering, I have 3g on top of my signal bars, but sometimes H shows up.

I read online on some forums saying that when you have really good signal H shows up or when you are downloading something.

I have been getting dropped calls though but its not often.

H= HSPA

Its better than 3G.

I am very tempted to get this deal. I will be moving to Toronto as well in October and I don't want to miss this deal since it ends in 3 days. Can I sign up now and move to Toronto? Will that be roaming or will they let you move to a different homebase and it won't be considered as roaming? What did you have to do? Go to Moblicity in Toronto and let them know? Thanks in advance.

AVS_Racing 09-27-2012 03:04 PM

Moblicity has reception in g grind too, I wonder how much the note 2 is gona be, its gona suck balls if you have to play like $ 700 straight up, moblicity really needs something like wind tab

oh one last piece of good news for you Mobi guys:

I wonder if the Samsung GALAXY Note II supported radio frequencies is built the same way as its AT&T counterpart or the Galaxy Nexus phones.... You think it'll be compatible with Bell/Rogers/Telus?

Cause if so, I wouldn't mind buying straight up from mobilicity since they usually have pretty good deals on phones.
