which phone did you end up getting?

AVS_Racing 08-29-2011 10:22 PM

just got the spice, since it was cheap. i thought about the e73 but its kinda old and i dont think you can tether, also it was another $50, i didn't feel like dropping $350+ for the panche or nexus cuz i was only using this to test. but from what i heard from the 2 other guys in the store when i signed up who was also on moblicity the reception was decent.

ninjai123 08-29-2011 10:30 PM

Quick question on the mobilicity plan, it shows 10$ for the smart data what is that mean?

FerrariEnzo 08-30-2011 12:43 AM

the BTS plan already has Data..

the LG Wink on mobilicity's site right now is on sale for $79.99
I'd say that's the cheapest but it doesn't look that great.

you can return the phone if you're not happy with service or the phone. ask the rep for details. I think they are posted on the website too. no risk :D

If you’re not happy with your Mobilicity phone, your phone must be returned within 14 days from the date of purchase. Your original sales receipt, original phone box, including all instruction manuals and accessories that came with the phone (such as the charger, battery, headset and carrying case) must be returned.
go for a test drive ;)

while at night market reception was ok when i got there but data subsequently died the rest of the evening when i was trying to msn my friend his whereabouts :fuuuuu:

in my home in east van (kingsway/rupert area) the coverage is working i'd say 80% of the time. last few days data and cell coverage has gone out completely, not sure if it's b/c of their outage or what. on average it's been 2 bars, though i've gotten 3 a few times and rarely 4.

i guess it is something you expect when signing with a company like this, you get what you pay for. overall i'm still happy b/c i use my phone so rarely. but data crapping out sucks. i should check if there's an app that can switch to wifi when data craps out and turns off wifi when data is back on. overall i'm happy b/c i expect weaker coverage than with the big 3, especially at the price i'm paying for. i got the $25 unlimited plan on a nexus s

PS there's a mobilicity in station square next to future shop (on the right if you're facing the store)

if you got the Nexus S, make sure you turn of data roaming in setting.

Psykopathik 08-30-2011 08:08 AM

A rep said that this back to school plan doesn't count for referrals cause it's not a multi-month plan. You've heard otherwise?

Also they don't seem to have anymore Nexus S in stock and most of the places I called don't have the Panache either.

dinamix 08-30-2011 09:47 AM

Anyone know how the reception is in Langley?
I'm around the willowbrook mall area and im planning to pick up the nexus s in a couple of
Days

I'm not 100% sure the spice can tether but I haven't tested it, you need to root it then install barnacle from the app store. Anyone know an easy way to root spice?

@ minoru: I had the same problem, try the knight/kingsway location, they seemed to have decent stock of both nexus s and panache when i was in last week

@ turbe_e: can i still use you as a referal for a $25/month plan after i signed up? if so how do i go about doing it?

Psykopathik 08-30-2011 01:23 PM

honestly i have no clue about the referrals. and what exactly qualifies, however sending an email from their homepage may work. i Appreciate any attempts :D

Groot 08-30-2011 02:26 PM

:( i have 2 months left on my plan...how long is this plan going to last?

GLOW 08-30-2011 02:49 PM

3 reps i talked to had no idea. but they said b/c it's called back to school chances are at least until school starts. if you're interested just sign up now and pay for 2 months so when your contract ends you still have the plan.

Groot 08-30-2011 02:55 PM

yeah but then that means i'll need a new number :(

AVS_Racing 08-30-2011 03:02 PM

You can port your number over later that's what the rep told me but holy shit im down to 40% batt on my spice and i unplugged my phone at 11ish this morning the hsdpa drains batt like a bitch and i barly touched the phone

Groot 08-30-2011 03:22 PM

thanks! errr..would you know if i could activate the plan and then deactivate it till 2 months is up? reason i ask is that if i could deactivate the account then i wouldn't have to pay for the plan for 2 months and then i can port my number over...

AVS_Racing 08-30-2011 03:37 PM

Not sure call a store and ask but its less than a dollar a day for unlimited everything and its convient just use it for 2 months to test out

LikeASir 08-30-2011 05:37 PM

Would fido try to keep me if i told em that im going to switch over if they dont give me a better plan?

AVS_Racing 08-30-2011 05:43 PM

No cuz many ppl tried and they can't match that price, and tell you to switch
