*Mobilicity Black Friday Sale! Starts Early!! + *Free Gift!*

Black Friday starts on Thursday for Mobilicity, for those still on the fence, these are pretty unbeatable prices on the handsets to go with the 50% off promo.

AVS_Racing 11-25-2012 12:29 PM

what kinda speeds are you guys getting with your phones? I got 1534kbps down and FUCKING 36KBPS up?@#$?# WTF at 3 am last night.

Im pretty disappointed right now really REALLY either considering signing up for wind or go over to bell and get a note 2 + LTE. OMFG I was playing with my friends phone with LTE yesterday and my mind was blown.

stereo12 11-25-2012 12:36 PM

NOTE2

did 4 tests for you.

1)2160 down 290up
2)1764 down 252 up
3)915 down 404 up
4)1829 down 122 up

pinging 280+ on the last so im assuming its all over 250 ping

AVS_Racing 11-25-2012 03:59 PM

I just did 2 tests on S2X

and it was

1151 down, 23 up
1090 down, 36 up

I spoke to my friend who's has a mobi store, apparently he can port over my dads robbers number and keep my $24 BTS plan. I think I'll cancel my mobi number and port my rogers account to bell. Since I've had mobi for over a year and I don't see them expanding their network at all. random no signals inside malls, and ass slow data that doesn't even load sometimes. (dead zone on bridge port, Ikea area, past steveston.) I was hoping all this time they would strengthen their network so I can eventually cancel my robbers account but till now I don't see any improvement.

I think I'll switch to bell since its $65 so $73 tax in per month with 6gb LTE data, 500 mins day? unlimited evening weekend, unlimited incoming, caller id, VM, text etc.

I just checked my robbers bill and I'm paying $47 per month with no data just voice, text, caller Id.

:okay:

ddalbowang 11-25-2012 08:50 PM

is it only me who has no connection for data today??

can make a call and txt but no internet :(

AVS_Racing 11-25-2012 10:50 PM

Had to hack a reg sim to micro size for my Note 2. No issues at all.

Question: I'm considering moving to Wind, but I notice the Mobilicity premium data plan includes 20GB of data. I know right now with Rogers I use under 1GB of data a month, but I'm trying to figure out how much I actually use my home internet per month.
My usage includes average youtube browsing, revscene (of course) and other pages, and occasionally I stream Tv shows and movies.

Any idea what my data average would be per month? I'm just thinking, if I got that Mobilicity plan, and just tethered my home internet, I could get rid of my telus high-speed internet, if I stay under 20GB. Is this a dumb idea? Would it be slower? Would I go over easily? I realize I don't have many specifics about my usage, I'm just trying to think if this is even possible...

Psykopathik 12-18-2012 07:22 AM

you will be disappointed with the dismal speed, coverage, and frequent outages.

does 2Mbps on a good day sound alright for home use? there's no penalty for overages, just slower speed.

AVS_Racing 12-18-2012 12:48 PM

^^ wouldn't he get faster speeds since he has the 20gb plan? not sure what the real world speeds are though.

and it turns out there's something odd with none moblicity phones getting slower data speeds, and the time it takes to find network. I.E. my Telus S2X, I was always stuck on 3g with max 2.5Mbps on a very good day. While moblicity phones such as galaxy mini, galaxy mini q and S3 were all able to get on H+.

SpartanAir 12-18-2012 09:10 PM

Ya didn't think so. If there were outages, and I had no internet or really slow speeds, I'd be f'd.
Just trying to find a way to not pay so much for home internet. I don't like knowing that so much of my money goes to Telus every month.

ShadowBun 12-18-2012 10:28 PM

What kind of phone do you have?

I find that if you have a crappy phone, you're going to get crappy reception.

Im around 49th Victoria and I get 4 bars all the time in my house (except my bedroom which was a dead zone for fido as well). Pretty satisfied with my mobilicity service, even commuting back and forth from UBC. I'm always streaming music and have yet to have a signal outage. On a GNex.

rexsomnii 12-19-2012 09:21 PM

Lol. I have a s2x from telus.. i dont think thats crappy.. After i shoveled my sidewalk i came back in an boom no signal .. i did find wind network though. What do you guys think of the Sony Xperia Ion ?

theevilslave 12-19-2012 10:06 PM

Xperia Ion is a decent phone. But really isn't worth getting considering the alternatives that are available.

Just looked at wind: S3 for 199, Ion for 149.

If I trade my S2X for an Ion would I be getting the better deal since the ion came out after the S2X ?

Anyone having text problems recently with Mobi? My friends are only receiving 50% of the texts I send out, plus when they send me texts I sometimes get the same text from them 20-30 times. I'm getting sick of the issues Mobilicity seems to have in Vancouver when Toronto is always perfectly fine.
