Applying for dual citizenship (US/Canada)

Does anyone have experience with this? I'm interested in getting work and owning property in the states. I keep getting pointed towards N-600K, through my Googling efforts. There's the N-600 form, but my mother, who is the US Citizen, does not regularly reside in the states, so I got directed to the N-600K form. I'm still not sure if this is the right path. Here's the profile:

1. I was born in Canada
2. I'm over 18
3. My mom is a Naturalized US Citizen that resided in the states for 8 years before moving to Canada


A pointer in the right direction would be appreciated!

If your mom is a US citizen at the time of your birth, you are a US citizen by birth despite the location you were born.

Get in touch with the US embassy/consulate, they should be able to help you out with it. You just need to claim your citizenship.

Edit: Actually, I just double checked, if your mom didn't file the application for your citizenship before you reach 18, N-600K isn't what you are looking at. Anyway, contact US embassy and I'm sure they can help you out.
