| Condo: Studio floor plans
So I was just looking at a Studio Floor plan, and I was wondering where the "bedroom" would be. I'm assuming it's one of those beds in the wall?
Anyone currently live in or has lived in a unit with a studio floor plan?
also, whats the condo market like these days - and what do you guys see fwd into the next 4-5 years?

Words like "studio" and "bachelor" almost always means that there is no FORMAL bedroom (no enclosed wall, door, window, closet and likely under 550sq.ft.). You would usually use part of the living room area space as your bedroom, normally there's a designated space for your bed.
The market depends on which area.

you probably would have a murphy bed (one that folds up into a bookcase)
the only "room" would be the washroom

studio layouts indeed dont have a designated bedroom. essentially ur living room is ur bedroom. saying that, ive seen mostly couches that fold out into beds being used to utilize the space. never seen a murphy bed in a studio but seems like a viable option as well given the space.

A murphy bed would be great for a space like this but I've never seen it as a fixture - you'd have to buy it on your own.
Sounds like a presale to me.

I have seen some really crappy bed placements...
For anyone who remebers the REMY project (the one that burned down in Richmond) the bed in the studio was right next to your counter and dishwasher...some have crappy designs

i think i will focus on 1 bedroom + den. I was looking at studio cuz it was cheap.
looking to own a place in 4-5 years ... just doing casual research now..

I bought a 1 bed + den as it was the most affordable for me....but do not forget about resale value....a studio (unless downtown) is worth less then a 1 bed room
BTW what area are you planning on buying in?

If you own it you can build in your own little shelf loft. My first apartment had one of those, so the bed was actually over my office space on a raised platform. There was only enough room up there for the bed on the floor and a low night table.
