no none of that, it's not tinkered with at all... the phone is running the latest update 4.1.1...
This Places App and Maps, these are literally the only things I use on the phone aside from texting and calling, so it's important to me.
I have days where it will work like I said once in quite a few attempts, and then days like yesterday where after trying about 20 times doing all types of things like restarting the phone, turning on and off my location settings, and few other things it just would not work at all, either on my WIFI or on full 3G signal bars.
Ok so just woke up after having the phone off the whole night, WIFI on 3G bars on full, re enabled my location services, still doesn't work...
the GPS Status app after clearing the cache still didn't help.
I'd like to know your opinion on whether this is a Nexus problem, I mean what else could it be ? data and everything else works so it can't be a network thing.
If I can't get this fixed today, I'm giving the phone to my brother and picking up something else where the basic things work flawlessly as they should.

Tiny bits of dust caught in the seams where the glass meets the plastic bezel. It almost seems like every phone I've owned has had this issue. Wish the edges were flush so dust wouldn't get caught in there. Tiny little thing that really bugs me.

The fact is that some batteries CAN be defective. If you've got a defective battery its not as simple as swapping it for a new one.
Side note: If anyone is looking for an awesome rom, check out the new liquid smooth release for Gnex. Been using it for a week now with franco milestone 5 and I honestly think this is the perfect rom. Stable, fast, great battery life, tons of customization. Best of all: Everything works flawlessly. With other roms there will always be little bugs here and there but I havent encountered any force closes or hiccups. | I'm looking for a change of pace, I'll try out LS.
However, now that I'm moving away from PA...does anyone know of any apps to do DPI modifications?

I truly apologize for the error. LG wanted to control certain hardware of the device including the locking of the bootloader, but we assume it can be unlocked, including the cell radios.
Thanks,

Android Task Force Administrator | Thanks for the clarification.
But it still leads to the question of why LG even wants to control anything to do with the bootloader. Let us know if you get more info though! |

Sweet. 4.1.2 hitting AOSP today. I wonder what the changes are for the Galaxy Nexus and when it'll be incorporated into all the custom roms.

sorry for a super noob question
when you enable wifi, does it automatically disable your data? Or should you go and manually disable data under the settings each time...

now that i got slingplayer streaming and will setup google music soon i can finally take advantage of my 6gb bandwidth
I think 4g would've come in handy here though...even SD video stream has a bit of lag...and the audio is terrible
gonna try it out on the bus/skytrain tmr to see if connectivity turns to shit when in motion.

How's the battery life for you guys...
Gotr my Galaxy Nexus last night fully charged and now it is left at 20% seems like my iphone 4 have a better battery life......
Is it just the first few charges that's like this or is the battery life generally sucks?

You'll probably see alot of varying answers to your question. I think alot of us are running different roms and kernels and generally have different usage.
I can get 16-18 hours easily with over 40% battery left.

Yeah battery life really varies depending on what you're doing with your phone.
With my usage, the battery life is OK: 16-18 hours a day w/ a mix of 3g/wifi; everything syncing except Facebook; 2.5-3 hours screen on time before hitting around 10% battery.
Using Paranoid Android 2.18 w/ Franco 276.

Is it just the first few charges that's like this or is the battery life generally sucks? | When I first got my G-Nexus, battery life sucked too. What did it for me afterwards is that I sifted through practically every item in the [Settings] menu, and adjusted all the different settings to suit my usage pattern. For example, I don't have any bluetooth devices, so I turned that off on the phone.
What seemed to be the biggest battery drainer on my phone was the automatic sync-ing, with Gmail seemingly being the biggest offender. Once I stopped Gmail from automatically syncing, battery life improved significantly.
So try tweaking the apps settings and phone config stuff a bit, and it should get better.

But also remember that the iPhone is pretty much the benchmark when it comes to battery life. Your new phone basically has a screen that's the size of the ENTIRE iPhone you had before. The more screen time you have, the more it's going to suffer. Also, if you have syncing turned on, make sure you've got wifi on at all times when possible. While wifi does take up more energy just left on and sniffing for connections, it also results in a much much quicker transmission of data reducing the battery drain.
As others have said, moving beyond stock and to certain custom roms with custom kernels will make noticable changes; depending on you and your phone some good and some bad.
