New Gmail 4.2 as well!
FINALLY brings pinch to zoom and also swipe to delete.
Delete your old gmail
Push new gmail to system/app and make sure you set permissions to rw-r-r
Reboot and you're set |

It's just annoying because whenever I switch keyboard, I would sometime press Google Voice search, so that's why I want to disable it since I don't use it at all.
Could it be possible I had a bad flash when I changed my phone from non-yaku to yaku?

^So found out Google Now was the culprit, so I can't disable.
By the way, just got update for 4.1.2. Had to clear the Google Service Framework twice to get it.

so this morning I was prompted to install 4.1.2 so I accepted it and I guess cuz my phone is rooted by previous owner, it took me to the Android bootloader menu?? It asked if I wanted to install this unsafe file and gave me a bunch of no's and one yes. I clicked yes. Then it took me to the next menu where it was gave me options to reboot now, factory reset, wipe blab blah. I didn't know what to do so I just clicked reboot now and come here and ask what I'm suppose to do. After it rebooted, I no longer had the option to update no matter how many times I "check for update", it says it's up to date.
How do I get the promt again? And what should I click the next time I'm doing it? Posted via RS Mobile

The OTA update should have failed to install but your device should be fine.
Check your version in settings/about and see what Android version you're running now.
If the previous owner ONLY rooted your phone and you're still stock otherwise, then I believe you should still be able to apply the OTA update. Just wait a while or move your date forward a year and you should see the update notice again. If not, then I think somebody mentioned you can clear Google Service Framework and try again.

There's no easy way of doing this if you're not big on flashing roms and stuff. It's not hard to do, but you'll likely have to follow some tutorials on xda developers to flash back to stock if you're not familiar with using fastboot and command lines.
The other alternative is to flash a newer version of cyanogenmod which is already on 4.1.2.

What surprises me more, is the fact that you clearly have no idea what you're doing and you still went ahead and did it. You're lucky you didn't end up with a brick Posted via RS Mobile |

Yeah, I'm quite impressed you managed to not brick your phone.
On the upside, it seems like all the hard stuff has been done for you on your phone, so you just need to start reading up on what roms and whatnot you want to install. Welcome to the club, junior.

I don't really know much of this stuff which is mainly the reason for wanting to set it back to stock.
I figured that doing the official update would kinda wipe everything and get me back.

But the problem is you can't use the official updates once you've put in a custom bootloader. The official updates don't recognize the custom bootloader and (like you saw), the bootloader says "hi, I heard you wanted to start in bootload mode?" but that's about it.
TL;DR: Get someone to help you return to stock.

I figured that doing the official update would kinda wipe everything and get me back. | OK. Do this:
Goto: [ROM] [FACTORY IMAGE] [4.1.2] Stock | JZO54K | Rooted | Odexed | Deodexed | teshxx - xda-developers
1) Download one of the Deodexed links.
2) Copy the zip file to your phone
3) Power off the device and turn it back on while holding down the Volume Down and Power buttons and you'll boot directly into ClockworkMod Recovery.
4) Do the Factory Reset option
5) Select install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard that you copied earlier
6) Once done flashing on the main menu wipe cache
7) then goto advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache
8) reboot and enjoy.
This is the easiest way to get you close to stock 4.1.2.

^ That would work.
But I've learned the hard way that the best thing to do with people that don't know what they're doing with Android is to get them on the odexed official yakju path once and for all. That way they can actually use OTA updates and won't have to bug you in the future when new versions come out Quote:

My Gmail, version says 4.1.2. Dafuq? Posted via RS Mobile | The new gapps probably doesn't have the newest Gmail. You have to either manually drag and drop gmail 4.2 into the gapps zip you're using then flash in recovery (easiest way) or you can install it afterwards manually.

But he's got cwm on it already so going back to full stock would involve using odin and that's a hassle with the drivers and such. Posted via RS Mobile
