I think im gonna wait for kernels to appear before jumping to 4.2
That battery life is killer, even though I always have a portable juice pack, it doesn't seem worth it
I upgraded to 4.2 on my nexus7 and thats shitty too for battery life

both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 have 4.2 installed, and I'd say the battery life is the same, if not a little better.
Both are stock, except for CWM recovery.
But 4.2 seems a little "sluggish" on both devices...

This kernel works with 4.2, and the battery life is REALLY good. Only problem is, performance seems to be a bit sluggish when turning the screen on. Might need to play around with governors to get it to work better. [KERNEL] [JB] [CM&AOSP] [3.0.51+] [MILv011 - TEXPv310 - 42EXPv442] [15/11] AK - xda-developers
A good temporary fix until a better one comes out |

I think Trinity kernel has an alpha version out that works with 4.2 without the deep sleep problem now too. Not sure about Franco though. Seems like Google changed a lot in the kernel and it's been a bitch for them to straighten out even with source.

I think it's an issue with getting the CPU clock up fast enough. I might increase the minimum and see how that goes.

Whenever you guys are flashing new 4.2 ROMs, to prevent making the new /0 folder migration, install the new recovery (either CWM 6.0.1.8 or TWRP)
Don't get stuck like me with sdcard/0/0/0/0/0 after testing multiple ROMs and now I have to migrate the entire contents of my SDcard back to the root.

Android 4.2 defaults to sdcard/0 now due to multiuser provisions. Gets tricky if you're moving from 4.2 back to 4.1.2 Roms
The new clockworkmod also stores your backups in /data/media/clockworkmod/backup now instead of sdcard/clockworkmod/backup, so it gets messy if you're moving back and forth from old to new roms if your backups are not in the right folders

I only use rooted stock roms and mess around with the kernels, so I'm fine
Out of all my Android phones, I have never had a 100% usable custom rom. Always end up going back to rooted stock with some tweaks. That's why I like Revolution HD so much.

I actually miss some of the features I took for granted in cm10 Roms now that I'm using stock 4.2

Not completely sure to be honest. | I didn't notice the /0 folder either.
Started poking around and noticed there was a "/storage/sdcard0", which might be a symlink to "/sdcard"
In root explorer there's a note " -> legacy"

Hmm so apparently there are quite a few issues with 4.2. Paranoid Android 2.99 is out from my link above. I'm probably holding off for now: Android 4.2-Gate: Here Are Some Of The Major Issues Plaguing Google's Newest Release
I've switched to LiquidSmooth RC8. It's much faster on my phone than PA 2.54 was and netting me about the same battery life.

Out of that lists of bugs, the only ones I've had was how my screen would turn on randomly, and random reboots. Quite frustrating. Also I'm not sure if it's 4.2 or SwiftKey, but my SwiftKey is significantly slower hen it was before. Posted via RS Mobile |

Swiftkey feels about the same to me, except in whatsapp where it's always laggy. But that's more due to the garbage coding of whatsapp.
The camera app rotation is stupid as hell in 4.2. They need to fix that. One of the first things I noticed.
The only other bug out of that list I have is the constant disconnecting of my bluetooth headset while driving. Apparently they re-wrote the bluetooth stack in 4.2. I've recently found a workaround though: keep your wifi on as well regardless if you're connected to a network or not. I've found that I haven't had a single disconnect so far since I've done that.

paranoidandroid 2.54 - 2.99 | No camera issues? You don't have that annoying camera rotation lag where it flips the whole screen instead of just the buttons when going from portrait to landscape?
Apparently it's been confirmed that it's done by design to facilitate the swipe to preview that looked glitchy on 4.1 (?)....
I forgot how it looked on 4.1 now but I never noticed it looked glitchy before.

I wouldn't call it "extreme" but it definitely drained quicker before I changed the kernel from stock 4.2 Lockscreen Widgets / Camera App
I don't know about the widgets, but I definitely noticed that the camera app is laggy as fuck when you rotate the phone. Actually rotating in any app is really slow. December Is Missing!
LOL never noticed this!
They go on to put up a poll, but it's missing the one thing I would have voted for |
