BURNABY (NEWS1130) - Dozens of firefighters are battling flames and explosions at Southcoast Millwork Ltd. on Byrne Road between Marine Drive and Marine Way.
It can be seen over a large area of south Burnaby. Byrne Road is closed in both directions between Marine Drive and Marine Way.
About 80 people work in the facility. There is no official word on the cause of the blaze but there are indications it may have been a broken gas line.
Ambulances were called but it is unclear whether anyone was taken to hospital.
One witness tells us he saw "Very very thick, black smoke.
"The flames are shooting about 20 feet," he says.
Another witness says "It looks like it's a large warehouse and there's a lot of big explosions right now.
