Titanium welding

Anyone know of a shop locally that can weld titanium? I have an exhaust leak around the hanger which has cracked, it's close to broken off entirely if not fixed up soon. Any help is appreciated!

any shop with a TIG welder can help with your exhaust crack

Unfortunately not the case for titanium, I have phoned around and none of the TIG welding or exhaust shops are able to work with titanium. You need to have an enclosed environment/proper equipment when welding titanium because it produces toxic gas during the process, so yah not many places can do it.

Deloreans were famous for stainless steel.

I remember another thread where someone was asking the same question and the results were sparse. I need a repair on my exhaust soon too. Didn't know it was this hard to get it fixed.

Specialty welding is definitely hard to find since it cost so much for the setup... I have seen titanium welding, but only when I was working in aircraft maintenance. Maybe somebody on revscene that works for the welding and sheetmetal department in a aircraft maintenance facility could help you out.

I doubt the hangers are made from TI most of the time Ti systems only have Ti canisters and maybe partial piping. Any shop that can backpurge and weld SS can do TI , just wear a respirator if your worried. I'm sure lowell at RG could do it blindfolded.

I had an Amuse ti exhaust on my S2000. They are famous for the welds cracking on the resonator because the welds are too thin.

Oh, and the hangers are ti as well on my exhaust.

OP, if you need a guy, I might know someone out in Langley that does ti welding. I believe he is the guy that built Uncle Joe's exhaust on his VS for the autoX people that are wondering.

I'd try it but I don't have any ti filler rod and it's around $100 per pound. It doesn't have to be enclosed but will need to be backpurged which isn't a big deal. PM me if you can't find anyone.

Passenger Industries in abbotsford can do it but it won't be cheap.

Heres a sample of his automotive work.
