You are more lenient than I would be. Even if Ping Zhang and his bros go and take some proper driving class, they would still most likely drive their daddy's R8, Gallardo, SLS, GTR, or whatever other car they don't deserve.

Why not just institute a driving ban? Period-based. 1 year, 2 years, etc - as well as a probationary period.

I see the flaws in my own suggestion, but really, I just don't want these spoiled kids to drive. :fullofwin:

parm104 is probably going to fail me for this. Hands them out like candy.

6thGear. 09-01-2011 09:33 PM

I wonder whats going to happen first, these kids getting their license revoked or the rioters getting charged?

Your reply just shows how little you know about the riches in China.

Not really. Its already been pointed out that the police can charge them with stunting, and all they need is witnesses to make that stick. The people who called in would probably have no issue testifying to see some spoiled kids lose their licenses and cars.

Death2Theft 09-01-2011 09:35 PM

Thats because you couldn't afford to maintain any of them anyways.

Easy you have your buddies behind you doing 40 blocking both lanes until you get the distance of the tunnel. Any car with half a set of balls can hit 200 in that distance. I've hit 280 in that distance and still had time to hit the brakes to exit the tunnel at the speed limit.

saw the matte lambo and aston martin last night in white rock.. and i was wonder what happened cause a few cops were there . and i see why now.

Death2Theft 09-01-2011 09:42 PM

Which is pretty stupid to do in rush hour. No wonder people are calling in pissed off. The sense of entitlement those kids have, no consideration for anyone else is totally a china thing.

Really? Because I grew up on the North Shore, and the level to which white and persian kids are spoiled there is ridiculous.
There's no "race" requirement for being a self-entitled, pompous, douche-bag, asshole with no consideration for anyone.

IMO it's poor and/or absent parenting coupled with someone's naturally awful personality

lol, I actually didn't go to the meet.

The problem everyone seems to have, is that these kids are taking what they have for granted, and thinking they should have that entitlement. I have a few friends who's parents bought them nice cars, but they did well in HS(honour roll) go straight to UBC and get onto the Deans list. They bust their ass and get rewarded by their parents, not get shit handed to them on a silver platter.

It makes perfect sense. A small fine to a wealthy person isn't much of a punishment, so what has the law achieved?

I agree with you but unfortunately in Canada, our Canadian Constitution is supreme law. The constitution guarantees equal treatment of all people regardless of creed, gender and class and so does our Charter. If we decide to change our laws so that people with more money will experience the same amount of hardship someone with less money who receives a fine/penalty, then we would basically be re-writing our Constitution.

Although in an IDEAL world, the law would be based on how it effects those who break it, in the real world, it's all about making sure the punishment fits THE CRIME and is consistent and fair for everyone.

Also, all this talk is based on Criminal charges which will most likely never even occur. Eyewitness testimony from random people on the highway may be enough for ICBC to revoke a license or for them to give a harsher driving prohibition...But certainly not for criminal charges. It would be an absolute waste of time and money to go after these guys criminally because there isn't any evidence that will hold in court.

ilvtofu 09-01-2011 10:14 PM

I don't agree with the police decision to impound all these vehicles based on such weak evidence, but that MM Design GTR deserves to be crushed, or at least have that hideous vinyl removed.

You're stereotyping and making assumptions. I'm not saying that what you're saying may not be the case with these guys...But you don't know them personally and you don't know what they have or what they have not done in their lives. If you're claiming that these kids are taking what they have for granted, I am going to have to assume that either you personally know them or you can read their minds because other than that, you have no way of knowing if they appreciate their toys.

At the end of the day, what people do with their money and what lifestyle people give to their kids is no one else's business but their own. The only matter we have a business in is the safety of our fellow citizens on the roads and the actions that these guys portray in public.

I've seen on a daily basis people driving ERRATICALLY and dangerously without care in shit-box cars and honky trucks...It really doesn't have anything to do with money or class.

if you guys read further in article
In January, a Swiss court slapped a $290,000 speeding ticket on a millionaire Ferrari driver who drove 60 mph (nearly twice the 30 mph limit) through a small village.

But the people driving these cars have no jobs meaning they have no income.

LSF22 09-01-2011 10:45 PM

Video says one of the drivers was a girl?! Just curious, anyone know which one she was driving?

Cielmer 09-01-2011 10:47 PM

LSF22: GIRL RACER?? NO WAAAI! THEY DON'T EXIST!

Haha, seriously though, despite the gender, dumb shit move is dumb.

I wasn't there but what exactly happened with Matt Zhang and the RS meet? I've heard of this kid before but I know little of what went down. I was also in another province at the time the RS meet happened.
