Buying 04 G35 sedan 6Speed guide I am planning to get 2004 G35 sedan 6 speed manual. It currently has 130 000km. Any precaution that I should take look into? Any common problems for that car? |
Check for suspension noise, warped brakes, they rust easy, check for rattle of the interior components(dash, arm rest). Make sure the car has had regular maintenance since they love to burn oil!! Check the climate control both cold/hot on both sides with dual zone setup. Check that the seat belts release and go back!! That's all that i can think off at the moment, those are my common issues i have experienced with the car. Other owners have also mentioned the sensor in the passenger seat for detecting the passenger fails but mine is working so far. Don't forget the usual things, check the clutch and all the other things. |
how do you check whether the car burns oil or not? what about the clutch? Quote:

Get a mechanic to inspect the car before buying it if you want to be safe. |
what about BCAA? are they better than mechanics? or maybe do you have any mechanic to recommend? Quote:

Check window motors and door lock actuators too. These are very common problems in G35's. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ my first problems as an owner, they eat brakes too. this is almost a non issue now, but tire feathering was a huge problem initially. but most cars have been fixed. |
i heard infinitis in general lose quality really fast compared to acuras/lexus...dunno how true that is. |

03-06 models have this crazy weird A/C problem where you'd lose control of the A/C and it just does full blast ... seems to be a fairly common problem and the fix is $700-$900 ish. google 2003 g35 common problems |
infiniti clock light bulb burns out quick...had to replace 2 within a year. front chrome grille finish peels....infiniti replaced mine twice under warranty. rearview mirror with home link buttons flake off...infiniti replaced under warranty. brakes do wear out quick as someone has said already. otherwise, car is ok. |
The manual tranny is garbage. Check for grinds when the car is cold. |
the MAF haunts me .. for my maxima and infiniti i had.. |

The autos seem to be bulletproof... But then you don't get the full driving experience. I had a coupe, and the problems I had were window motor malfunctioning, door actuator dead, and sometimes my headlights didn't want to turn on. Also eats brakes like no tomorrow. |

Acura as a whole, just feels so much more solid, sturdy, and reliable. For example, when I slam the door on my TL, it's a nice, solid "thud." When I had the G coupe and the Z, everytime I slammed the door, it felt/sounded like the window was gonna shatter, and you hear various shakes and rattles from the door. Having said that, the Infinitis RWD was waaaay more fun to drive, and had waaay more sex appeal. Well, at least the coupe did. IMO the sedans before 2007 look outdated. |
