anyone who didnt see this coming is fucking blind.
seriously. can we get an HST revote with a some education leading up to it? i swear the HST would win this time now that people realize theres repercussions to voting a certain way because you're mad at the liberals
So many problems on something that shouldn't have existed in the first place Posted via RS Mobile
Exactly! It was a completely stupid idea to hold a referendum on taxation (and service) issues. What else do you expect?!
"Who wants to pay more taxes?" or "Who wants more hospital beds?" Of course the answer is no or yes respectively.
It's like asking your children, "Who wants to eat chocolate for dinner?"
The government is supposed to make those kinds of decisions on behalf of the population.

+1
There were a lot of people I know that voted against it. Why? Lack of education & knowledge of the pros and cons of the HST and just constantly hearing how "bad" the HST was. Nobody wants to go out of their way to learn about it, the information wasn't just there. People only voted by short term observation, and they observed that they were paying a lot more for things, haircuts and groceries were now more.

Information is there, people don't bother reading.
Groceries were always tax free. I am not talking about junk food. Posted via RS Mobile
Well, with the amount that I eat out, the tax savings will work out to pay off the higher income taxes. I can't say I didn't see this one coming! Posted via RS Mobile
its a pretty simple equation
pst/gst will benefit some
hst will benefit some
some are just pissed at the gov and see this as a way to kick them in the balls
some don't know how to spell thier name much less understand the real financial differences between hst and pst/gst
in the end more people voted to go back to the old system. i can promise you one benefit from this whole thing that won't show up in any finances. by voting to go back the gov won't try to pull another bs move like that again. at least for a while. because they now realize that getting caught trying to make a change without telling anyone is a hell of a lot worse then publicly fighting to implement a change and slowly educating the public about what the gov feels are the benefits.
fuck the liberals. They are lying to you and you guys are letting your own personal greed skew your opinion. They are saying that natural resource revenue is down... right right.

Are you even old enough to remember what it was like the last time the NDP ran the province? Sure the liberals aren't perfect but they have also been the best thing for this province for the last number of years. For all the public screw ups Gordo had (not politics related) he was an excellent premier. People are just too short sighted to realize this. And they wonder why he received the Order of BC, it's because he actually made a positive impact to BC during his tenure.

uh, my uncle brought down the NDP government. So if anything you should be thanking my blood.
if the hst wasnt defeated and it goes down to 10%...do you think personal income tax would go down? either way i think they'll still do this to recoup the reduction that wouldve gotten through the hst...
i think this is in the same boat as the hst...the plans were there but kept hidden in the public eye...
i'm not an ndp supporter but imagine them going into an election and their platform is to put in the hst...that would be pretty funny...and for all the ndp haters out there, dont tell people that you didnt benefit when they were in government coz on a personal level, you probably did...
