Driving to the United States with an "N"?

Not sure if anybody has asked this or if this thread fits in the right category, but are you allowed to drive down to the states with your N?

MeowMeow 09-10-2011 12:54 PM

Yes

Yes. They don't care about your N as far as I know. Been down there with more then 1 person and not one problem.

If you're driving down more than 1, it's not a problem. It's coming back up that will be the problem.

He's asking if he can drive down to the States not if he can carry more people in the car.

When I had my N went down a good 50+ times. No problems.

XplicitLuder 09-10-2011 01:05 PM

long as you don't drive a heaty car, you wont get harrassed at border like me :okay: but no problems otherwise

LSF22 09-10-2011 01:06 PM

Great. Thanks!
I was also wondering if I could bring 2 people with me instead as well :$... But they'd check on me right? So no?

Another question for you guys.... How $$$ do you guys usually spend going down and back from Seattle on gas and stuff? Just wanna know what you guys do while you're down there.

JayEch 09-10-2011 01:44 PM

depends how long you stay. Went a few weeks ago with gf. stay a night and we spent ruffly a grand with hotel and everything. When i do go for a day trip. dont really spend that much on cloths. i find there's nothing really good at the outlet nor nordstrom. Bring 500? I wouldnt spend that much on shopping tho. I go for the food. Talulip buffet and red lobster. That shits fucking great. And if your worried about getting taxed, just put some cloths you bought on while crossing the border. Asian style :fuckyea:

Vale46Rossi 09-10-2011 02:11 PM

The Tulalip buffet is fucking garbage.

about $40 max in a 1.7L

usually $80 for me with Chevron 92 octane.

and I was in the States just this morning..

double0seven 09-10-2011 05:25 PM

I actually drove down with my parents with my L a few years ago. No problems lol

TjAlmeida 09-10-2011 07:58 PM

Cheesecake Factory...

Mmmmm, Red Velvet Cake...

Sorry what was the question?? ;)

I have only been to seattle once while driving with my N and i had 2 people in the car and they did not say a word. They are not cops, all they care about is that you are not trafficking illegals.

Have a good trip!

hk20000 09-10-2011 09:37 PM

they don't check your driver's license when crossing the border. You could have gone across without a valid DL for all they care.

CorneringArtist 09-10-2011 10:10 PM

They DID ask me about my EID N because it looks similar to the BCID's (I got the Enhanced ID since I don't have a passport). However, I just cleared up which card was my license and was on my way.

You shouldn't be worried about what happens if they ask you about having extra passengers at the border, they don't care in the states and consequences if you get pulled over while still in Canada are relatively minor. What you need to worry about is getting in an accident and have your insurance voided for driving contrary to restrictions, while carrying said extra passengers.

A 1.7L d17a2 should average 40-45mpg if you don't speed, expect to get approximately 600km out of your tank.

FerrariEnzo 09-11-2011 07:02 AM

If your restriction doesnt say anything about it, you can...
