TD Bank on Westwood/Lougheed now has a DIY coin exchanger. Free if you have a TD account. No % taken.

Not sure of any other branches that have this.

What's a reasonably priced chinese joint in Van?

My go to place is Dai Tung, but figured there might be a better priced version of Dai Tung.

Ken's is a joke, the food there is very meh.

The one on Main and 17th? That's decent, I was probably considering that as the 2nd alternative.

Other ideas? That you guys go to?

I used BMO, up to 250, no % fee. So if you have over 250, just split it up, cash out the voucher and start over.

I was stupid and was at 220 and figured the rest of the change in my jar wasn't enough for over 250 and dumped it. Hit effin' 290, then got dinged the fee. Lost some good money.

Graeme S 03-09-2013 04:21 PM

There are plenty of Credit unions that do it fee-less. The credit union near me at Hastings and Alpha does it. Right across from the dolphin theatre, if anyone is curious.

We need a good, old fashioned, gas war.

There hasn't been anything substantal in recent years, since ARCO came into town.

Will never happen again, biggest thing thats going to happen is Parkland is going to buy a big portion of Husky and that won't do anything to the gas prices.

i can't say forsure but I would suggest against sending it in on a thurs evening or anytime friday. by the time they check emails on monday they'll have a shit load of emails to go through and yours could be "lost in the mix". i think earlier in the week is better than later.

I went to a Chinese restaurant next to Trocadero's on Nanaimo. It's not bad. Fair prices. If that doesn't work out, you can always go to Bons Off Broadway for all day breakfast, LOL. Just don't go to Trocadero's.

My family used to go to that Chinese restaurant. Phoenix Seafood Restaurant or something? You used to get like 10 or 20% off dimsum if you went before 11AM. But they moved to some other area now.

Congee Noodle King (NE cor. Kingsway/Joyce)
Venice Garden (1st/Renfrew upstairs in the T&T Plaza)

Not cheap, not expensive, solid food

Where can I can get a decent floor jack for a good price in the lower mainland? PA is too far and I've checked CT, they're a bit pricy. Looking for something that can go under 4" and lift to a decent height for regular maintenance stuff.

k3mps 03-10-2013 11:10 PM

on a side note, saw this

You're not willing to drive to Coquitlam or Langley for something you're going to use for several years?

^+1

I was hesitant to go to princess auto but mr flip here recommended it

high quality stuff for low prices, and life time exchange/return warranty -- can't beat it

alternatively, harbour freight has some good ones if you wanna ship to point roberts.

Canadian tire cheap stuff = plastic wheels, lots of plastic parts, cheap quality over all. For the same price you'll get all metal construction @ princess auto

i used to go there often, expect poor service (even by chinese restaurant standards). i expected bad service anyway which is why we still went...but i don't go anymore

a couple of times it's been shitty even for chinese restaurant standards...got tired of the "i don't give a fuck at all" attitude from some of the regular servers so we dropped it from our list of neighbourhood chinese restaurants
