What's the best vacuum cleaner for cleaning up your car upholstery?

MG1 07-18-2013 11:29 AM

portable/cordless or plug into wall outlet kind?

I just use shop vac.

kevin7352 07-18-2013 12:09 PM

well i need something with different heads to get all the stuff out of the carpets and also into little nooks. corded/cordless doesnt really matter

GLOW 07-18-2013 12:26 PM

we use a shop vac and plug it in to our exterior plug in our house. has more juice than a portable.

Sid Vicious 07-18-2013 12:28 PM

probably one of those fancy ass dyson hand held vacs

godwin 07-18-2013 12:35 PM

I use a cheap HEPA canister vac from Walmart or Crappy Tire.. the problem I have with ShopVac is dust always get blown back out.

Cordless anything is pointless and weak if you have a socket nearby.

hud 91gt 07-18-2013 09:37 PM

^ Aren't those hard to get into smaller spaces?

StylinRed 07-18-2013 09:49 PM

i dont know what size those dyson ones are but mine seems to be a similar form factor and can get into all the nooks and crannies

Hondaracer 07-18-2013 09:58 PM

dyson isnt great i've used the yellow one a few times and it was pretty overwhelming for what I expected

kevin7352 07-18-2013 10:24 PM

deer god, I didn't know vacuum cleaners were this expensive

Canister Vacuums | Canadian Tire

The reason why i'm asking is because i was washing my car today and in the middle of vacuuming my seats, my weak little canister vacuum burnt out on me and now the back half of my car is clean but the front half is still dirty as hell LOL

kristianhay 07-18-2013 10:30 PM

Give this a listen while you're working or whatever, guy is a great speaker.

godwin 07-18-2013 10:34 PM

Wait for sale.. the Dirt Devil Featherlite (the one I use on cars).. get discounted to $50 nearly once a month.

If you can't wait.. I find you pretty much have to bend over shopping in Canada.

The dirt devil is really basic, No BS motor attachments etc.. works fine. Also vs standup ones, you don't suckup the garage floor while you are vacuuming. I use another one on my work bench to suck up stray plastic, solder etc.

^ This. Shop vac kicks butt for cars and 100 other things you don't want to use your $500 Dyson on.

MG1 07-19-2013 07:25 AM

Plus, you can buy HEPA filters for certain models. Ridgid vacs at Home Depot are of decent quality. Sometimes, they have "special buy" (probably gimmick) ones on display.

In fact, last week, they had a smaller one on for $49.00. It was at the Home Depot in Richmond in the contractor's section.

Just a heads up for those looking to buy cheap gas in the US, don't go to Costco with a jerry can with capacity larger than 5 gallons (~22.7 litres). I had a 25 litre gas can and they refused to let me fill it. Some old Washington law. I've never had that happen. I guess the two people they assign to stand around now have something better to do, LOL. The prices were no better than Sumas.

I was in Bellingham to get stuff at Harbor Freight Tools. If it weren't for that, I'd just get gas in Sumas or Blaine.

HKS PWR 07-20-2013 08:58 PM
