hey guys, can anyone point me in the direction of a set of speakers? My gf's parents got a new TV and the speakers on it are on the back of the tv but the cabinet that it is on is very small and enclosing so the sound is very muffled and soft. Anyone know any good speakers we can buy to connect to it? Apparently we also need a splitter? since this tv doesnt have it, according to get guy at Best Buy

What's the TV model? A lot of TV's don't have audio out, except for Optical output.

Problem is a lot of speakers don't have optical in. My Logitech z5500's have it, (discontinued now, replaced with something else), but those were about $400 lol

You'll need something that is self-powered; I think the sound-bar type speakers would do well in this situation, where you just need it to be louder/clearer not so much a full-blown surround sound speaker system with a receiver. Plus they are fairly inexpensive.

Your new TV should have Optical out, these speaker bars will often have optical in; something like this:

If just need basic stereo: LG 40Watt Stereo Soundbar for Home Theatre : Home Theater & Audio | Dell Canada

Add a sub if they don't live in an apartment: Sharp HT-SL50 100-Watt 2.1 Channel Super Slim Sound Bar with Active Subwoofer System : Home Theater & Audio | Dell Canada

I've always wanted to ask this, but never bothered..........until now. Who/what's with the short Asian guy who's holding a mic, singing and dancing on the corner of Commercial Drive and Broadway? I first noticed him about a year ago. He used to hang out on the southeast corner for a few months, then moved southwest. The last dozen or so times, he's been on the northeast corner. I'm just curious - he certainly seems to be really happy. I just drive by, so don't know if he's any good. Does he sing like Asian songs or rock n roll?

Too bad Mike McCardell is no longer working. He'd be doing a segment on this guy, for sure.

Damn, watching the entire speech given by MLK Jr right now. Powerful back then and still powerful today.

Thinking along the lines of taxi drivers who give their personal numbers out.
20% to 30% off meter price. No tips. Cash only.

Trying to be responsible with the new drinking and driving laws.
You think with these new laws...they can atleast let skytrain run really late on weekends.

If space is limited get a sound bar... they are the best investment you can make for the situation, amp and speakers in one... and get one with a wireless subwoofer for better sound.

Avoid boundary rd between moscrop and vanness like the plague! They dug it up today to repave and they did a piss poor job of cleaning up the pebbles/ rocks.
