yeah, we sure had a lot of fun. Good times. |
Can anyone recommend a decent place to get my car key cut. I recently ordered 2 replacement. I would be appreciated if the cutter is really accurate and cut it right the first time without me order and paid for more replacement. Thanks. Any place in Richmond? so that I can go after work. |

looks like broadway locksmith or precision locksmith, remember you'll need the immobilizer chip for newer cars |
+1 to broadway locksmith had 3 car keys cut there they all worked Posted via RS Mobile |
Woah Broadway Locksmith cost $40? Is that how much it cost to cut normally? or that just the professional cutting price? |
Anyone got their car key cut at Canadian Tire or Rona before? |
It was around 5 dollars per key when I went a few months ago. Posted via RS Mobile |

I don't know about imports, but with domestic Chevy/Pontiac I was able to go to the dealer and they looked up my 25 year old Pontiac Fiero Key Code and cut me a key on the spot for 10 bucks. This was for my 88GT and my 87GT Fiero's. I have also removed the door locks from another car and had them Re-Key the locks for different keys. As for you guys with issues with Chipped Keys. It might be cheaper for you to get a bypass module so you no longer need chipped keys. A lot of the Fiero guys take engines from newer cars that had keys with chips in them, got a module that hooks to the ECM to bypass the chips. Most car alarm install places will have the modules for setting up aftermarket remote start systems, so the car can be started without the key even needing to be there. FYI any "good" car thief will carry one of these with him, so if he really wants to steal your car, he'll know before hand what make and model you have, and carry the appropriate module to bypass your chip, and any stoner looking for a "joyride" will assume you have a chip in your car, and will move on to an easier car to steal anyway. So really there is no reason not to bypass it. Long Rant about car alarms, read on only if you want to hear about car alarms and anti theft stuff. In my opinion, a good remote start/keyless entry alarm with paging and engine disable is the best bet. So long as the engine disable portion of the system is hidden someplace other than under the dash. The way mine works, if you bypass my alarm or remove the alarm, the car won't start. The ignition and ECM power are cut way back in the harness. Sure my car COULD get stolen, but it would take the thief hours of testing wires to get it running and by that time the siren would have gone off and myself or one of my neighbors would have heard it and called me. |
well my car key isn't anything fancy, I pretty much ordered a base key shell from ebay, then i'm putting my transponder thingy inside the shell. So no programming... just simply duplicated cut from my current one picture of the shell: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTAwWDUwMA==/$(KGrHqZ,!p4FDcpCNnfdBQ9PV5N2Q!~~60_12.JPG |

I know having tinted windows when going for your road test is not allowed but has anyone actually brought their vehicle in and the examiner said no, it's not safe? I have a friend who wants to trade cars for the day because his vehicle has tinted windows and his check engine light is on |
Interesting. I wasn't aware that you can't take a road test with legally tinted windows. Any links to support this? |
do either of you have all seasons or winters on? i mean if legally tinted windows are an issue than i think tires will be a bigger one |

I did my Class 5 test in my lowered, tinted MK2 GTI. There were no issues about "legality" of the tint, nor the ride height (admittedly I had jacked up the coilovers to make is a little higher lol). But considering a lot of cars come stock with tinted glass, I'm pretty sure that your friend was feeding you a line of BS. The CEL, though... that isn't allowed for a drivers test. |
So, I'm listening to Macklemore's tune......... I've been on RS for a long time. Why is it people use the word "faggot" and "gay" at the drop of a hat? It's funny, but also hurtful. I'm sure I've used those words at one time or another, but haven't in quite some time. Am I getting soft in my old age? Probably, but wouldn't it be nice if we all tried very hard to avoid using words like those. Azzhole, douchebag, bitch, bastard, fucktard, etc. would be better choices. In fact, we shouldn't be calling each other names, anyway. I think RS can be better than other forums out there. /preach EDIT: If I were called "Old Geezer" I'd be like so devastated........... LOLOLOLOLOL. My skin is pretty calloused. |

We hear stories of violence and wonder what kind of world this is becoming. Little things like this adds up - it's where it starts. When people stop caring about each other, then there's really little left. It leads to a totally "Fuck You!" world. I fear for my children and my grandchildren. I'll be long gone, but this wrold is falling apart and it is not getting better. I started the "Random Acts of Kindness" thread on RS in hopes of getting people to be more kind to each other, or at least think about it. Instead, we have people attacking each other and calling each other names and shit. I guess I'll just sit back and watch you guys just deal with it. I thought RS was a good community, perhaps not so much........ /rant |

violence and hatred will always exist in this world because of economic scarcity and human emotions in the end theyre just words; the mentality and attitude is is conveyed through the words...in other words do you blame the knife, or the person who is stabbing you with it? |
