Anyone selling or know someone who is selling a parking spot downtown this summer from May until mid-August? The closer to Burrard and Dunsmuir the better.

What does the "T" denote in AMG 55T? I'm assuming they're all JDM imports but does it mean anything else?

Hey guys I need some ideas on how to remove a slightly stripped screw. The screw is not rusted and has a t8 style head. I've tried the rubber band, masking tape and jb weld trick but the fucker isn't budging. Also doesn't help when the screw is 5 inches from the fucking radiator.

Take a hacksaw blade or Dremel and cut a slot into it, then use a flathead.

underscore 04-24-2014 10:54 PM

You might want to pull the rad, since the head of the screw sticks out I'd say grab a file/hacksaw and cut a slot into it so you can try to use a flat screwdriver to get it out.

OR you can try filing down two flat spots opposite each other on the outside so that you have two flat edges to clamp down on with vicegrips or pliers, the head doesn't look very thick tho.

Worse come to worse, get a cheap screwdriver from $ store and tack weld it to the bold.

Thanks, I'm going to try and buy a set now, hopefully they still have some left. That looks like a useful thing to have around.

edit: nvm it says they're sold out

Speed2K 04-25-2014 11:05 PM

I have this set of extractosr, i purchased it a long time ago from HD and it has gotten me out of a few jams before!

MG1 04-26-2014 07:22 AM

Heat and vibration will do the trick, but it's not possible in this case. Another possibility is to drill out or cut off the bolt heads and remove the IAC valve. Once that's out of the way, the bolt threads would be exposed, allowing penetrating oil to get at it. Plus, there would be enough material to clamp needle nose vice grips on. Hopefully, the bolt won't break.

Anyone collect Coca-Cola cans? I just found a case of white, Holiday Polar Bear ones.

godwin 04-26-2014 11:04 AM

The problem with those things is clearance. You have to put your drill to be perpendicular to the screw for it to work. If your drill is too big, it just won't fit.

My suggestion to your problem would be remove the other T8, loosen enough you can pour in some lubricate to the metal block, do a heat and cold cycle and try again.

Get a little torch and put some heat into the screw. If you havent fucked the head up so much that you cant get a screw driver on it anymore, t will come out like butter.

MG1 04-26-2014 01:25 PM

He can't get the other bolt off, either........

fliptuner 04-26-2014 01:42 PM

Try using a hex on the other side.

Are you using an allen key style tool to get them off or actual sockets/ratchets?

MG1 04-26-2014 03:54 PM

Is it possible to take the throttle body off easilly? I can't really tell from the pics.

RRxtar 04-26-2014 03:56 PM

seriously, before you fuck the bolt heads up with extractors and hack saws, put some heat to it. a mini hand torch straight onto the head will do it. heat is magic for loosening fasteners.
