I was driving home tonight and as I was going up the same hill I always go up, my headlights cut out to my DRL for half a second and turned on again.
At the same time, my TCS/DSC light came on for half a second and then turned off.

I was almost home but I drove around for about 5 minutes to see if it would happen again but it didn't.
Is this something I should be worried about?

Did it throw a code at all? Did you hit a bump or was it totally random?

Completely random, occurred for the first time and hasn't occurred since

underscore 05-13-2014 11:30 AM

If it didn't throw a code I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening frequently.

Kind of interesting!

Sparknotes: The ice cream truck jingle is actually the tune of a racist song.

It all makes sense now....

Can anyone please recommend a simple to use program to mix music? That does beat-matching for a non-stop mix? Thanks in advance!

Anybody here have a first gen Lexus IS300 auto, or driven one? How responsive is the e-shift/tiptronic? ie does it shift right when you hit the button or is there a slight delay?

I have a IS300, this is my 2nd one. I love it, it's a great car. Both that I owned were automatic

The e-shift isn't a true shifter, it's a torque converter. There is a slight delay.

It's not a true shifter, as when you downshift, it just limits the gear that the car can go into, it's not the exact gear (eg. If you "downshift" from 5 to 3, that doesn't mean that the car is in gear 3, it means that the ECU has the choice to choose from Gear 1, Gear 2, or Gear 3. However it's smart enough not to blow up your engine, so it will choose gear 3)

Hope that helps

That helps a lot, thanks. If you're in say 4 and the revs are dropping and you hit the down button for 3, how long of a delay is there between when you press the button and when you get 3? Likewise how long is the delay on the way up?

I remember in the Prelude there is like a 2 second delay between when you hit the button and when it changed gears, so on the way up you would have to plan out what you were doing and hit the button early to make it shift when you wanted, it was okay but a bit of a pain and not much fun to drive like that.

Police searching for Vancouver sex assault suspect | News1130

Quote:

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a daytime sex assault in Vancouver on Monday.

A 22-year-old woman was attacked on Cambie near 37th during the afternoon rush-hour.

Constable Brian Montague says they’re looking into whether this man is linked to other assaults.

“We actually believe this suspect may have been loitering in the bushes just prior to the attack and he was looking for the opportunity to prey on somebody. She did the right, she fought back and called police.”

The man is described as white, 25 years old, 5’8” tall with a medium build, sandy blond short hair and light coloured eyes. He was wearing a red baseball cap, a navy blue ¾ length jacket, baggy denim jeans and dark boot-type shoes.

Anyone with information about this attack, or who may know the identity of this suspect, is asked to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0603 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222 8477.

my bet is what it will be the same as any other automatic. There's always going to be a delay when you have a torque converter.

I have never timed it, but it's about 1 second, feels like slightly less.

I know for sure it's not as long as 2 seconds though, that is LOOONG.

underscore 05-14-2014 12:29 PM

It may not have been a full 2 seconds but there was a definite delay.

Pretty sure they just need to GTFO. So they have to sell in order to leave, not to pay the strata.

"Shit Stir Stick" meaning shit disturbers?

I'm driving a NA 1990 miata, and I have to slow down to ~20km/hr before I can shift back to 2nd gear. Is something broken or is this normal?

fliptuner 05-16-2014 12:37 AM

Are you rev-matching?

If it grinds into 2nd, maybe the synchros are going. You can try changing the fluid and adding syncromesh.
