Went to UBC for the first time in a while and inadvertently found out what Timpo does for a living when he's not contributing (re: ruining) RS.

Missing 12-year-old girl in Vancouver - BC | Globalnews.ca

Hope she's found safe.

Just read a post on twitter that she's been found but no details. I hope it's true.

Hmm...all the links to the new stories are dead?

Inaii 07-28-2014 05:39 PM

Maybe someone falsely reported her missing? As in thought she was missing, but turns out she was at a friend's house sort of thing.

Hi Everyone, just a bit of heads up, with the weather so warm and everyone leaving their windows open to your homes, be extra vigilant of home intruders.

I live in South Burnaby and there was a string of home intrusions this past weekend. Stolen laptops and electronic devices were a big hit on our block.

It's hot but be sure to not only close your windows and doors but to make sure they're locked when you're not home!

Inaii 07-28-2014 09:25 PM

Saiko if you don't mind my asking, what area of South Burnaby? I have a friend whose dad lives around McKay and Rumble, just wondering if I should let her know about them.

Good news, Vancouverites. The Powell Street Overpass is finally complete. One of the fastest routes to get to downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, etc. I believe today is day one. One of the few projects that has been completed ahead of schedule.

@Inaii, I live by Kingsway and Sperling. Still S Bby I think.. Regardless, be careful wherever you live right?

I was going to post this a couple of days ago, but better late than never........

After a good rainfall, like we did last week, go around the house and make sure there is no standing water. Mosquitos lay their eggs in standing water. We've been lucky so far that it hasn't rained much. Containers of any kind like buckets, wheelbarrows, old tires, etc. they are all perfect places for Mosquitos.

Not sure if the overall brightness of headlights has increased over my years of driving or the number of inconsiderate assholes refusing to turn off their highbeams has increased.

Most of them are too stupid to know what high beams are. A lot of people don't know how any of the features on their vehicles work. These people are challenged with steering the vehicle within the lines on the road and knowing which pedal is the gas and which one is the brake. Anything beyond that is too complicated. I guess they know how to fill up the gas tank.

So many people out there who cannot do the simplest things in life. Blows my mind. I gave up trying to understand stupidity. It's like Spock trying to mind meld with an amoeba.

So uh..Hillary Duff released a new song in quite a while and I must say...not a fan of the synthetic auto tune... Since she CAN sing...

Don't they normally pull those once the minor is found to protect said minor?

Need some advice from you door experts.

Looking to get a soundproof door to deaden the sound of an air compressor that's ~4m away. The door will be inside the building, but I've been told that interior soundproof doors aren't very good and that an exterior one will be better.

Well my problem is that the descriptions for doors on HomeDepot's site doesn't mention sound deadening capabilities at all so I can't tell what's good.

Other info that might be relevant: looking for a single regular sized door, no windows, needs 1 hole for a door knob, don't care about paintability

ilovebacon 07-31-2014 02:33 AM

See That Door On The Ground? Wait Until You See What?s Down There... WOW.
wow maybe i need one of these?

MG1 07-31-2014 08:22 AM

I say we install this thing right under CHB.

Soundproof the compressor a possibility? There's lots of info on boxes for compressors and whatnot on the Internet.

I'm not too familiar with Kits beach area, but I'm driving there tomorrow. Are there parking spots available? Free or paid (how much)?
