Very cool...........

A documentary about the positive side of aviation as opposed to the ugly side - Battle of Britain, bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, napalm bombs in Vietnam, 9-11, etc.

Olivia Wilde Breastfeeding Her Son Shows She Doesn't Give A F*ck What People Say

This article is dead wrong if they are insinuating that I DON'T want to see Olivia Wilde's breasts.

Also, a pic of said breast (no nip but use your discretion):

Why would you book a hotel in New Zealand based on a Vancouver time?

LP700-4 08-06-2014 05:23 PM

Nvm realized how dumb that question was. Full week of exams and shit gets to you sometimes :lawl:

not sure if it deserves its own thread or not....but, new toonie coming out on oct 4th

Iconic Province photo will be engraved on new toonie

Quote:

Anyone wanting to pick up a new toonie picturing Canada’s iconic war photograph, Wait For Me, Daddy, will want to be in New Westminster on Oct. 4.

That’s when the Royal Canadian Mint will unveil the new $2 coin and exchange it with anyone showing up with an old one.

The mint’s announcement last month was the latest honour being given to the famous photograph, which shows a boy (Whitey Bernard) running after his father as he marches off to the Second World War through the streets of New Westminster.

The photo, published around the world as a classic statement of war’s impact, was taken by Province photographer Claud Dettloff at Columbia and 8th streets on Oct. 4, 1940.

Dettloff’s photo is also being honoured with a stamp and a statue in New West.

“It’s going to be a triple unveiling,” said New West Coun. Lorrie Williams on Wednesday. “It’s a big day for the city.”

Williams said the mint initially rejected her proposal for the coin, but she persuaded officials in a followup face-to-face meeting in Ottawa.

“I’m like a bulldog,” she said. “There are two famous Canadian photographs. This one and The Last Spike. I convinced them that this is bigger than they realized.”

The statue will be placed on the round platform at Hyack Square.

Genevieve Raiche-Savoie, an instructor at the Emily Carr University of Art, said it will be a challenge to compress the piece’s emotional content onto a very small space.

“This is already an iconic piece of art, it’s going to become a symbol once it’s put on a coin,” she said.

“I believe this is one of the first times a photograph has been used for a coin. It’s a new approach,” she said.

im personally gonna grab a dozen of these bad boys since my grandpa is only a few people behind the guy with his hand out!! (3rd guy behind)

Hondaracer 08-06-2014 06:39 PM

found this interesting:

Big Bang A 'Mirage' Caused By A 4D Black Hole. Maybe

Basically the theory is our 3D universe was created from a 4D star implosion which created a 4D black hole with a 3D event horizon, in which our 3D universe exists.

Much like our 3D stars implode and create 3D blackholes with 2D event horizons.

Meaning in every 3D blackhole that exists here, there must be a 2D universe that exists within the event horizon.

MG1 08-08-2014 05:23 PM

Not trying to be cheeky, but I wAnder if Mint Canada would ever strike a toonie with an image depicting Chinese labourers toiling away on the CPR project or a photo of Canadian citizens being herded like cattle at Hastings Park. Probably not, but there are more than two sides to a coin.

Also, this is not disrespecting Stewie's post, as I see it as a very important subject. It just got me thinking about the other things related. Last spike vs the sacrifices made and Canadian soldiers going off to war to fight for freedom vs internment camps. All part of our history.

Tony Stewart (Nascar driver) ran over another racer during a yellow flag

Quote:

Tyler Graves, a sprint-car racer and friend of Ward's, told Sporting News in a phone interview that he was sitting in the Turn 1 grandstands and saw everything that happened.

"Tony pinched him into the frontstretch wall, a racing thing," Graves said. "The right rear tire went down, he spun on the exit of (Turn) 2. They threw the caution and everything was toned down. Kevin got out of his car. … He was throwing his arms up all over the place at Tony for most of the corner.

"I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars. When Tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. When you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. It set sideways, the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards."

Rich Willis, who was at the track, said he didn’t see exactly what happened but his sister down in Turn 1 did. His description was similar to that of Graves.

“People (who could see it better) said the guy got out of his car and was gesturing angrily at Tony Stewart when Tony Stewart came by during the next lap under yellow,” Willis said in a phone interview. “He approached him and evidently when he was driving by the guy standing on the track gesturing at him, he gunned his engine.

“What happened was the back end kicked out and clipped the guy and the guy flew across the track.”

For those who dont watch racing, Sprint Cars have a large right rear tire and turn sideways hard under power.

^wow, dick move! RIP. :(

MaaaadMan 08-10-2014 12:35 AM

It's the kid's fault for running onto the racetrack and as far as I can tell Tony didn't intentionally hit him

MG1 08-10-2014 09:11 AM

Why the hell would you court death like that by going on to the track? Rest in Peace, but at the same time, Darwin Award nominee or what?

Stewart probably wanted to scare the kid a bit, but it all went sideways (pun intended).

Tony Stewart not liked by many people, but he's gonna have to live with that one.

Hondaracer 08-10-2014 10:30 AM

Are you kidding me? You go out into the track like that to try and point Somone down in such an erratic type of racing? Jesus
