Freeloaders is right. It wasn't their land in the first place. They're no better than squatters. They should in fact thank the company for warning them ahead of time and letting them garden for free for all those years. Just my two bits.

I know that battery powered electric cars are a silly idea, but just how large are the battery packs required in them? I'm curious if they could be redesigned to be more swappable to extend range/reduce charge waits.

^ do you mean cars like the Model S or those diy electric cars? In the model S, the batteries take up like 6 sq feet of space and they're just smaller batteries all connected

Yeah things like the Model S. 6sqft worth is gonna be heavy but with some mechanical assistance it wouldn't be too bad to store 2-3 you could quickly swap to get going again.

There was a company called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Place They went backrupt.

The fact is the infrastructure to swap batteries cost a lot of money.. and higher DC charger can charger the battery pack in 30 minutes these days.

The key to better charger is waiting for 48V to be standard for car infrastructure.. probably in the next year or 2.

The problem with Tesla is they don't have a good source for IC engine.. you see the advantage of BMW in cases like these they dropped in their 3 cylinder engines in cases of i3 and i8.

Good. Those 'community' gardens are eyesores.

I bet most of the food wasn't actually eaten; it's there so they can feel better about themselves while they shop at Whole Foods or Choices.

While I'm sad to hear that some stuff got wrecked, I'm glad CP stood their ground and moved in to reclaim their space. Otherwise it would be another classic case of "tenant more rights than landlord".

Why are you sad about it? these people were fully warned and now they are crying because CP is doing what they warned them. It also pisses me off how Mayor Moonbeam sides with these people and thinks its wrong of CP... CP should now charge these people for clean up because it's on their fault that they live in million dollar houses with zero property... If they don't like it move out of the city with property big enough for a garden, I personally hope CP starts running trains at 3am every morning to really pisses off these useless whining twats...

CP even gave them an extra 2 weeks yet they still waited til the last minute to move stuff, if they were even half intelligent they would've started moving things back in May when they were told.

^agreed.

Among the many things I consider are ruining this beautiful city, the (unwarranted) sense of entitlement of many, along with those who whine for the sake of whining (they generally tend to be the same people, let's be honest), are high up on my list.

Good on CP.

Okay, before you younglings get your panties in a knot, not all seniors are dumbass drivers. This dude, however, takes the trophy for this week's dumbass seniors' award. Dude is 80+ years old, for those keeping tabs. He drives his vehicle into a swimming pool. How the hell does one do this? His flip flops got caught in the gas pedal and was not able to brake.............. anyway, wtf are you doing driving a car with flip flops? What a complete idiot.

I guess every generation has their share of idiots. This guy needs to be locked up in a seniors home for the eternally dumb. It's a good thing nobody else was injured.

Flip flops aren't as comfortable as regular shoes for me when driving lol

Always that rare chance the sole gets stuck in between the gas pedal and your foot

What. The sole should ALWAYS be between your pedal and your foot, because if you're not you're doing it wrong...:P

I don't agree with driving in flip flops. Some people have trouble walking in them let alone being in control of a 4000lb vehicle. Maybe people haven't had any issues but for that one time bobby runs into the street proper footwear could make all the difference in a panic situation. I haven't needed my seatbelt for its intended use in 10 years but I still wear it.

I drive in flip flops all the time during summer as well even though I know I shouldn't.. mainly because I can't wear shoes without socks. I'm just too damned lazy to even consider putting on/taking off socks and changing footwear to drive somewhere.

When I know I'm driving an hour or more, then I'll do it. But if its somewhat local, fuggedaboudit.

Some people struggle with walking, period. In light of this maybe everyone should roll around in wheel chairs since walking is such a hazard...

Just because some retard can't do something doesn't mean the rest of us are immense idiots for doing it. I can drive perfectly fine in sandals/flip flops.

I'm just sad to see something that people cared for get trashed (for example, it pains me to throw away my kid's artwork, cuz he spent time on it, even if it looks like crap).

But like I said, their time was up, and I applaud CP for doing what they said they were going to do. The gardeners called CP's bluff, and they lost.

^ how though? Your feet should be ABOVE the pedals. Even if it gets stuck, pull your right foot up so you're at least off the throttle and brake with your left.

For the record I drive in flip flops a lot now because I HATE shoes, my feet overheat extremely easily and I find it very uncomfortable and distracting.
