Anyways, the reason for the fake listing is that it's "verifiable"... as in you can load up a working Amazon page and show the price, or the store employee can even pull it up on their own computer.

Any ideas for a birthday gift for a male senior coworker?
He's retiring at the end of the month, and he's been my mentor for about 5 years now. Well off financially but down to earth, so he's not extravagant or vain.
Company is getting a cake and some food, but I want to do something a little more personal to show my gratitude.
Nice bottle of wine or scotch or cigars, whatever he's into.

Price range is around $50.
Maybe a fine writing pen? Infact staples got a deal right now for a pretty nice looking one. They come with a pretty nice case for the pen too.
No, I know, i was saying that because I don't drink, I don't know what a nice bottle of wine or liquor would be haha
I would not go the liquor route because something good would be outside your budget, and moreover, because it is something in which people have very specific preferences. I would, however, consider a bottle of wine as you can buy a good bottle and it has a more general appeal. If you go that route, go to a wine store (or a very good liquor store) and ask someone to recommend you something for the occasion. With the holidays coming I'm sure it will be enjoyed. A nice note expressing your gratitude would be the most important gesture, imo.
