Probably bought a ticket, forgot about it, and misplaced it until now.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people do that.. just they never won at the same time.

MG1 03-09-2015 10:58 PM

Or, winner knew of the ticket and took their sweet time. Planning on what to do with it. Its a lot of money and people's lives change for the worse when they win big.

Person might be smarter than we think.

but, I tend to agree with Razor - they heard all the hoopla on the news and decided to check the little tin box next to the #2 mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnall's back porch.

hey guys I want some opinions on a ae86 that i want to buy

is 4000 dollars a good price for a ae86 with a rocker panel that has been eaten thru by rust?

there are also a bunch of other areas that has some surface rust on the hood, trunk, sunroof and the front right fender. he treated the areas with tremclad anti rust on it already

mechanically the car is fantastic, engine revs like a charm, no play in the shifter, little to no squeeks and rattles when going over speed bumps and sewer covers as well.

what are your thoughts guys? :accepted:

$4k for a rusty Corolla? It better have a lot of aftermarket parts to justify that price.

heres the list from his ad:
" 220k with a freshly done head gasket (uprated ae92) done by Brian at 86 tuning, as well as a new water pump and timing belt. New clutch master and slave cylinder (dot4 fluid), T3 shifter rebuild kit, and Cusco transmission mount attached to a very nice shifting transmission.

40mm Speed Syndicate NCRCAs, threaded coilover sleeves with 2.5"id 6k front springs 4k rear springs. KYB MR2 (rear) front shocks with T3 strut spacer and KYB Camaro rear shocks. 304 stainless catback exhaust. Full brake service and gone over (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing, oil etc), "
:ahwow:

underscore 03-10-2015 12:20 PM

Overpriced IMO, if you're really interested in it price out the mods and divide by 2, then add maybe a grand (generous) for a rusty stock 86. I'm guessing you'll land under $2k which is still generous IMO.

Yup! thats the one

i just want a car that is rwd and be able easy to maintain it myself, not some project as my first car :QQ:

underscore 03-10-2015 02:47 PM

Honestly most RWD cars are now drift taxed to hell, for a reliable first car I'd go FWD to save money.

Question regarding bike licensing

I currently have my Class 5 license and I am wondering how many months it takes from doing the knowledge test to actually being able to ride one alone?

Tone Loc 03-11-2015 12:26 AM

Some call it "drift tax", others call it "appreciation". There are less and less AE86 every year, and prices aren't likely to go down anytime soon with the resurgence of the economy and more people wanting a "fun second car/project". During the 2008s recession, these cars were selling for next to nothing because people were losing disposable income. Now that the economy is getting somewhat better the reverse is occurring.

That being said, $4000 is a decent price for an AE86 (with respect to the market, not my own ideas of "value") provided it has next to no rust and it is mechanically sound. Mechanically, these cars are simple and can be easily repaired with basic tools, but bodywork + paint are the more costly fixes and don't provide any real returns come selling time whereas modifications can always be parted out. Or worse, if you get into a collision, ICBC isn't going to pay $4000 for what is - in their eyes - a rusty shitbox 80s Toyota Corolla. The parts can always be sold to recoup the loss, but the $$ spent on bodywork is irretrievable.

EDIT: http://www.usedvictoria.com/classifi...=edit&new=true

Considering this one is selling for $3000 and looks to have a significantly higher amount of rust as well as no modifications, $4000 is pretty fair. I recently sold a 1987 SR5 hatchback with zero rust and fresh paint for $2750, pretty decent when it would likely take $1000-$2000 to GTS swap it, or probably 2-3x that to swap in a more powerful engine and GTS drivetrain components.

http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/cto/4900590392.html

These are all selling for $6k+. Personally, I'd go for a car with a clean body and fresh paint simply because it's something I can't cheaply do myself.... just my $0.02.

underscore 03-11-2015 07:39 AM

People are free to ask whatever they like for a car, that doesn't mean it'll sell for that. Those postings are fairly old and the guy asking for $8k is smoking crack.

That's exactly why you shouldn't pay a retardedly high price for a car like this, if the interest dies down you'll lose your ass on it because you won't be able to sell it for much more than scrap value.

31 days.

You do your knowledge test, and 30 days after that you can do your skills test, as soon as you pass that you are able to ride without supervision.

This is incorrect.

14 days after your knowledge test is passed you can do your MST at ICBC and remove the supervision restriction.

30 days after passing your knowledge test you can take your Class 6 road test which gives you a full Motorcycle license.

This is providing you have your full Class 5 license (which you said you do).

So I'm booking a driving experoance at exotic racing at the vegas speedway. Because of the shitty exchange rate I'm probably only going to do 1 car for 6-8 laps because two of the high end cars will be $1400+

I'm heavily leaning toward the Aventador but they also have the 458, 599, etc

Which would you guys take?

white rocket 03-12-2015 11:15 AM

I drove the 430 Scud when I was there in 2012. Really fun. My instructor was down for me to give 'er shit the whole time. And I did just that. I did 6 laps and it was just barely enough to get used to the car, which kinda sucks.

Around a track I'd take a Ferrari over a Lambo. What's the full list of options?

"If you have a 6L licence, you can take the motorcycle skills test after you've held that licence for at least 14 days.

After you pass
Once you pass the skills test:
the 60 km/h speed restriction is removed
you can ride without a supervisor, and
once you have reached your earliest exam date you can take a
Class 6 road test (if you already have a B.C. driver's licence), or a
Class 8 road test (if you don't have a B.C. driver's licence or are in the "L" or "N" stages of graduated licensing for passenger vehicles).
All other learner's restrictions are still in effect. Be sure to keep track of the time left on your learner licence to complete the road tests. If your learner expires you will be required to re-take both the knowledge test and motorcycle skills test."
