Tough guy sociopath: Soon to be loved, tenderly |
Curious question: What are the crows going after chewing up everyone's lawn like they do? They rampage some, and then take it easy on the others! |
Crows dig up chafer grubs. They probably spread out to forage and when one of them cah caws they all flock to that lawn and rape it. |
Does anyone know the rough cost to vinyl wrap something like a 4Runner in just a basic gloss colour? |
JN & Z Deli on the Drive is open again. I gave up on ever seeing them again, but it looks like the renovations are over and they're back! Best smoked meats this side of the Atlantic. |
I noticed the crows started doing it once the green bins were put in use, no garbage to eat so they resorted to grubs i guess.... also they look bigger n stronger now, the weak crows probably all died :lol anyone know if Richmond Centre still does the gift wrapping by donation thing? |
raccoons get in on it too. they're the ones that really turn over your lawn like it's sod |
I have no lawn left. Okay adding up what's left, I'd say I have about a third of my entire front lawn left intact after it got fucked over by the 'coons. Wait till spring when I put in the artificial stuff with razors buried just below the surface. That'll learn 'em. |

Spoiler! |
Just wanna ask a question about tvs without posting a new thread lol...so here goes. Does anyone else agree that 1080p television with native 1080p content and feeds, is good enough? I see this new 4K UHD and there is so much details, is like I don't even think I can see that much fine details with my own eyes! I mean if your watching something from your own eyes and live, I can't see every fine hair or leaves of the grass like I do watching it in ultra hd...dunno if you know what I'm trying to say, its almost like 4K UHD is more then the eyes can see unless you record it and watch it on again on a TV or computer! 1080p content looks pretty stunning already, 4K more impressive, then now they talking 8K or something, when will it end? How much higher def do we need to go? BTW, what DEF is watching movies in the theater? |
The thing with 4K and even 1080p is that even if you have a matching quality source you still need to be watching it from the optimal viewing distance to really get the most from it. For 1080p that's about 2x the diagonal of the TV (so for a 50" TV, 100" away) but for 4K it's closer to 1.5x. Since most people sit a lot further than that away from their TV it's really a waste of money IMO. |
Anyone who argues 4k isn't a noticeable improvement has not seen a proper setup. IMO it is an amazing step in TV technology. While it's only Netflix and a few apps that currently stream native 4k content, there are still thousands of hours of content. Not to mention good sets with good processors do a great job at upscaling Purchased the 55XBR850B last winter, every single Person who has seen it at my place has remarked how good it looks. There is a lot of contradicting opinions online, however almost every single person with a 4k set will promote it and the people pushing against it do not have one. Really hard to make the decision on your own until you've seen a set properly setup and calibrated outside of bestbuy etc. Also keep in mind, you need minimum 18mb/s connection to stream native 4k. If your connection is slower than that or being bogged down by downloads etc. the netflix app will not even display 4k options |
^ serious question, how much of the noticeable improvement comes from the 4k and how much of it comes from other improvements in video quality that you would see if the same hardware was 1080p? More importantly actually, how does rather poor quality stuff look? Some of the old stuff I have isn't even 480p, but if it won't look any worse than it does now on a 1080 screen then I might go 4k for my next set. |
The XBR is obviously sony's top line. However, my parents ended up replacing a 8 year old Panasonic with a $900 vizio 4k set. While the overall picture is not as good I feel like the detail is definately noticeable, even from their relatively good 1080p 3D projector. 720 and lower I can't really speak to much anymore as we no longer have cable. I remember some stuff looking just terrible where as some older movies etc looked alright Think with 480 is you're making up a hell of a lot of lines of resolution in order to display the picture. You may know it ready, but a 4k set is -always- displaying 4k resolution, regardless of the input feed. So depending on the TV's processor, that is a lot of blending and creation of pixels which do not even exist with the content |
Might be a dumb question... but I bought a 4.4L jug of Mobil 1. http://i65.tinypic.com/2v3sz84.jpg How do I use these markings?? I'm not sure what those intervals represent. It doesn't even go up to the top of the container anyhow... :considered: They're typically supposed to be marked like this? http://g02.s.alicdn.com/kf/HTB16o.CH...Xq6xXFXXXR.jpg |
Probably 500 mL each interval |
Bought me one of these last week while in Bellingham Costco. I think they were $19.99 US. Love 'em. They came with carrying bag and a pair of nice side mirror covers, which aren't in the video below. |
