I'm pretty sure Black's folded last year.

Inaii 05-29-2016 06:20 PM

Glow, that was the one I was thinking of, but couldn't remember lol.

Wanted to scare some crows off the property a few days ago, so got out my old (as in 35+ years) Crosman 357 air gun. After scrambling for pellets and a cartridge, the thing jammed on me - I swear I heard the crow laughing at me as all I got was a "click".

I decided to get a new one. I guess I could have tried to fix the damn thing, but I went to CT and got me a newer 357 model called the Vigilante. I used to go plinking often in my younger days and miss it. Anyway, everywhere I went they were 99 bucks CAD. Cheap in the US, but wasn't going to bother.

Yesterday, a Princess Auto flyer shows up in the mail and lo and behold, the Vigilante is on sale for 58 freaking bucks! Sale starts today, but they gave me the advertised price a day early. Now gonna go return the one I got from CT. If they match the price, I'll keep it. Good to have a spare one for that price.

GLOW 05-31-2016 06:52 AM

those crows are mean bastards and they remember and gang up. coworker's neighbour went and attacked a few crows (was wearing high vis jacket)... and another time some city worker in a hi vis walked by that same area and a bunch of crows dive bombed him :lawl:

must have been asian crows :lol

Presto 05-31-2016 07:25 AM

The Crosman 357 is nice. As a kid, I pretended like I was Dirty Harry. The downside is the slow reload time, and eating up CO2 cartridges. My Daisy spring air rifle was my favorite. It wasn't as powerful as the CO2 guns, but you could load a few hundred BBs into it, and shoot until your arm was sore from pulling the lever. I remember my dad picked it up for $20 @ Target in Bellingham.

MG1 05-31-2016 10:07 AM

The nice thing about the Vigilante is that it uses 10 round cartridges. I just ordered two three packs. Seventy shots with the cartridge it came with. Not bad. Just preload beforehand.

GLOW 05-31-2016 10:12 AM

Anyone know the most recent price for 20lbs propane BBQ tank to refill in gas station vs exchange program? I just picked up a new propane BBQ and learning the basics of fuel

lilaznviper 06-01-2016 08:05 PM

my dad filled up at stupidstore for like 19 bucks if i remember correctly from what he said.

On another note, how can you tell how much propane is left in the tank?

Gnomes 06-01-2016 08:15 PM

Tanks can be weighed. TW marked on the tank is the weight of empty tank. Usually they are about 17lbs empty. Add 20lbs is 37lbs

racerman88 06-02-2016 07:03 PM

Superstore has the cheaper price for refilling propane

check to see expiration date. If it has expired, then go do the exchange thing and make sure you get like a brand new tank. If you don't have a tank, get a crappy one that someone has thrown away, then do the exchange thing.

Also, get an extra tank. I have a spare so I can really empty out each tank

I think Save on gas is cheap too

Gnomes 06-03-2016 09:30 AM

Got my empty tank filled at Kingsway bby supersave for $22. RCSS coquitlam specifically says max they charge for full tank is ~16. Exchange program at safeway is 26.99.

These info I dont pay attention to until I actually need to

6o4__boi 06-03-2016 01:18 PM

anyone here use the Jack Bell rideshare program?

MG1 06-06-2016 10:02 AM

Just an FYI, if you have a senior living with you, make sure you tell them to stay inside. The heat is brutal for seniors. Tell them to drink lots of liquids. My mother in law just collapsed outside and hurt herself badly. We tell her not to go outside in this kind of weather, but she either doesn't listen or forgets.

Inaii 06-06-2016 04:28 PM

I hope she has a speedy recovery MG1 :(

MG1 06-06-2016 06:25 PM

Thanks Inaii. We called 911 and she was taken to BGH via amberlamps at 10:00 am. Doctor didn't see her till 4:00 pm. Once you arrive in emergency, you are not supposed to eat or drink until the doctor sees you. Doctor when he arrived was like WTF? This is unacceptable. Okay, so why does it happen time and time again? Someone at triage messed up. When you try to ask a question, they're like go away. One day, it'll be their loved one that faces this problem. My mother in law is awesome. Never complained. Maybe that's why they forgot about her.

There's this redneck drunkard who's bitching and whining. He was treated and attended to fairly quickly. Different situation, I know, but makes you wAnder.

Inaii 06-06-2016 06:34 PM

Did they at least put her on an IV to get her rehydrated? =/ BGH (assuming you mean Burnaby General) emerg is terrible. When I went into labour, instead of talking to my brother (who drove me there and had all the information) they kept trying to talk to me to get information. I think I may have thrown my phone on the counter at one point and told them to read it themselves.

Oh, let me tell you some horror stories about that place from hell........ it'll be tl;dr.

My parents place used to be in Vancouver, but four blocks from there. I now live in Burnaby and let me tell you it is the worst hospital ever. I keep telling myself never to take anybody, even my worst enemies there, but when you're in an amberlamps, you don't get much of a choice........ at least I think that's the way it goes.

And yes, the paramedics put her on IV. I tell ya, if it weren't for the great first responders we are blessed with in this part of the world, it would be a nightmare. As for the hospital staff............ nuff said.

Inaii 06-06-2016 07:32 PM

It's funny because the Maternity ward staff (minus a single exception) were perfectly brilliant.

Wait till you go to Women's Hospital (next time?). Simply amazing......... My wife had number one son at Langley Memorial. This is before their upgrade. Talk about going back in time to medieval days. Then second and third at Women's hospital. Cannot begin to compare............ I would drive 500 miles for a place like that.
