Look as far ahead as you can to anticipate the traffic. I left the car in 1st or 2nd gear depending on how traffic was moving, and just let the engine do the braking.

Be one with the car...........plain and simple. Every car is different, but once you are one with the car, you can shift without clutch. Don't look at tach, instead, hear and feel it. Hard to explain. You either got it or you don't.
I learned to drive stick in a old beat up delivery truck. Clutch was freaking heavy and the stick was like two feet long. And hand brake? It was down low in front of vehicle - pull and twist to release. Lol, hills were a bit of a challenge. Anyway old man who taught me had me driving it in less than 15 minutes. He told me driving stick was like having good sex with a woman....... feel her...... he said.
BTW, hill assist is for pussies.

Was driving north on Cambie this morning when I saw an SUV with Oklahoma plates. As I passed the vehicle, I waved (I do this every chance I get).
I remember traveling across the US and people would always wave when they saw anyone with plates from elsewhere. Sort of a, "Welcome to our neck of the woods," thang. That's also what I like about US rest areas - so neat and welcoming.
I caught a glimpse of the driver and passenger. Driver was a very cute asian 25ish chick and passenger was middle-aged caucasian. Passenger waved back and gave big smile.
This stuff happens in the US a lot. Here, not so much. I think we should all take the extra effort to wave at visitors who drive from far away places to visit our neck of the woods. Doesn't hurt and at least we will be known for being friendly and not a "no fun", fucked up city, lol.

When I drive anywhere outside of BC, I never expect or care if anyone waves to me or not. I don't think a city is particularly "no fun, fucked up" just because someone didn't wave me to me because I was an "outsider".
I'd be confused if someone waved at me lol. That being said thanks for repping our city I guess.
vancouver you usually expect to get cut off and a finger, not a wave
when i was caught in bumper to bumper traffic in downtown seattle and needed to take the exit i hit my light and everyone let me cross. i was like such nice american courtesy, not like what i'd get here...

The first time I noticed someone waving at me on the freeway, I was like WTF? It was in and around Boise, Idaho. This was back when I used to do the car audio competition circuit. After that, I started noticing it more and more.
The no fun, fucked up comment was just a tongue in cheek, kick at the can thing.

Freaking hell.......... but it makes sense. Probably close the schools to save money so the westside schools can be saved, LOL. Eastside parents aren't vocal enough, hee hee.
Anyway, I was at Brit about five months ago. was at the rink. Walking around I started remembering all those secret rooms below the auditorium and all the access points to the school after hours. Lots of fond memories......
Oh well shit's bound to happen. I guess students will be split up between Templeton and Van Tech......... yikes, what a thought.
Gladstone makes sense as it's pretty central. They'd be going to Windermere, Van Tech, or Tupper.
Enrolment is down. Special programmes to deal with kids who are falling in between the cracks suck up most of the resources. If certain parents worked on parenting instead of dumping their shit on the public school system..........anyway, nuff said. It is what it is.

Don't forget, those of you fortunate enough to own a home, that property taxes are due either this coming Monday or Tuesday. I was cleaning out the twenty thousand piles of mail on my desk when I came across the statement. I had totally forgotten about it.
Damn, paying a penalty on top of what I already owe would have just sucked ass. Good thing I got a refund on my Income Tax this year to offset the amount by a bit.

If I read this correctly, we have until Aug 6/16 to submit for this?
I was using the silverstars during this time and was replacing bulbs about every 6 months.
Looks like I can only claim once for $24 though.
May you continue to be the magnet for the brightest and most talented individuals on the planet.
And, we're sorry for burning down your White House.
But not really.

Inaii, the historian, ruining the fun. Can we not say it was a bunch of skirmishers from Brock's old regiment, the militia, or survivors of Tecumseh's forces that did the actual burning of the white house?
Okay.............. it was the British. Happy now?
